View Full Version : Df210 + Tokico Blues = Rubbing?

I'm thinking that the TRD springs are not going to be a low/stiff enough spring for me, so I might be heading towards the df210's. My question is though, I've been reading about some rubbing with these springs. I'm going to be staying with the stock 15" rims and tires. I'll also be putting on Tokicos with the springs when I do the springs, should I have any rubbing issues at all? Another question is how do you folks with df's deal with speedbumps :)

The rubbing is because of wrong offset wheels not because of the springs.

If you stay with the stock rims, you will be OK with the DF's and should not experience any rubbing!

Down the road if you want to upgrade rims, just make you get the right offset for you ride height.

+1. The stiffer shocks will lessen any rubbing not increase it, also.

I have all of those parts for sale, FYI

I run DF210's on stock shocks/struts and I only rub if I cut my wheel all the way one way, and it's VERY minimal. Speedbumps I don't rub, normal driving I don't rub, 4 people in my car, still no rubbing.

What's the offset of your wheels?

Thanks for all the answers guys!

You stated that you don't rub going over speedbumps or anything like that, but your rims are bigger then the 15" stock ones. Would the rim size make a difference in ground clearance at all and with rubbing issues such as if i had a car full of folks?

The DF's and Tokicos are sounding like a mighty tasty combination, just want to get my bases covered

its really not the size of the rim but ofcourse theres still a limit..its the width of the rims and tires that makes it rub.

just so i get it straight, i shouldnt experience any rubbing with the df's and tokicos...even with 4 people in the car? also, does anyone have a ground level picture of their df' lowered yaris? I cant find any good pictures that are ground level so i can actually see the ground clearance!

I don't experience rubbing with DF's except when cutting the wheel ALL the way over.

thanks for the picture, definately gives me a really good idea! I see your rims are 17", would it make a difference in height that mine is the stock rim and tire 15"s?

It wouldn't make too much difference, the overall size is still around the same. I've ran DF210's on the stock rims, on aftermarket 15's, and on these 17's with no problems.

I take it since your in ohio, you make it through the winters then with this ride height :)

Thanks for the insight and the pictures. It was a massive help for sure to get some nice ground level shots. I would like to see one where the camera is ON the ground so I can really see the height, but I'm fortunate enough to be able to see these ones. One last question, when you get the alignment...do you just have them use stock factory alignment specs?

Looks like the TRD springs might be going up in the F.S section soon if I go with the DF's.

Make it through winters no problem. I do use the factory steelies with snow tires then, but leave the springs on and everything.

And no idea on the alignment, I just took it and told them I needed an alignment. They did the rest.

would the tokico's be stiffer than the kyb gr2's together with DF210 springs?

I think that I've read somewhere on the forum that the Tokicos are stiffer then the kyb's but I can't be 100% sure.

Well I'm running DFs with stock shocks and stock 15 wheels and speed bumps suck! I have to creep over them when I carry any one but myself to keep from smacking the bottom of the car on them when I get on the other side. With 3 people in the car I scraped the air deflectors in front of the rear wheels so much I took them off. My friends at work now treat my car as a two seater so as to avoid the bumps and grinds associated with driving with more then 2 people in the car. If you have to deal with speed bumps a lot and carry more then 1 other person often, you might want to consider a smaller drop then the DFs. I don't know how much stiffer shocks/bigger wheels helps, but this is just my experience. You can read my full review here (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13270).
