I think "check your lug nut threading" is more apt of a title, since I think what happened originally. Got aftermarket wheels with aftermarket lugs with the wrong threading, torqued them on with a power wrench and then took off on the track I believe.

I always liked the way it says "... and loses both rear wheels" when any idiot could see all FOUR wheels breaking free.
My "expert - I know the guy" told me that the lugs were ordered from China and were not the correct spec of steel, hence they all broke.
Who knows the real story, but it make s a great video!

Actually, here's a longer version of the video. I'm guessing a tow hook sticking out the front of his bumper would be useless at this point.

^no...you'd just need a bigger tow strap:thumbup:.

Driver's side rear looks like all 5 lugs sheared off.... that's ridiculous.

And he still remembered to set his handbrake!

I think the bigger problem he has is the shorts he's wearing, but then again that's just my opinion. :barf:

Actually you shouldn't set your hand brake when coming off the track.

I can't see the video at work. Does the video show him crawling out of the car? Afterall, you can't step out of a car if the floorboard is at ground level.

A big tow strap would work but would ruin the track for everyone else. Good thing that cones can be repositioned to alter the track!

It was obvious the car was in such disgust of its owner's fashion statement that it tried to destroy itself.

Actually you shouldn't set your hand brake when coming off the track.

Yes, I know, it can cause the parking brake pads to sieze against the hot brakes.

Its a bit of a conundrum though. I like to leave my car running for a few minutes to let it cool down, yet the only way to prevent a runaway is to turn off the engine and leave the car in gear so as not to use the parking brake.

I usually bring a set of wheel chalks with me. That way you can pull in and have the car stay in place, then out and check the tire temps (if you don't have someone else that can do it right after you come off the track.)
