I hate the stock lower grill. I want to see what people have done, whether it be buying an aftermarket one, painting it, taking a saw to it.. etc.

I could work some photoshop magic.

Though, I'm pretty sure you know how to 'shop, too.

Yeah I do. I've photoshopped it a few ways. Just looking for more ideas on what's actually been done.

I'd love to saw it and throw some mesh in there, what I've done on a few of my previous cars. They just didn't cost 13K.

^ Garm's done it with his car. I'm planning on doing this as soon as I get my fog lights. I'll be sawing away the two horizontal bars, then using a bit of body filler on the newly-exposed openings, and then using some 1F8 touch up paint for those. As for the mesh, you can find it EVERYWHERE on ebay. I'll be getting some of that, cutting it to the appropriate size, and then either zip-tying it down or using epoxy. It looks really good on Garm's car, and I don't see why it shouldn't work for us as long as you take time and care.

I took out the bars, put in mesh to match the upper grill and PAINTED the inside edge black so it looks like a grill insert:

Yep, there we go. That's what I need to do. Nice tip on the painting the inside black!

Thanks Garm!

I also want to do this. Where can one get high quality mesh and what can I expect to pay? I might even do something with the lower AND upper grill. Kinda wanna take out the stock upper grill and figure out a way to mount just mesh.
Basically like this, but also doing the lower to match....

Go to http://www.microimageonline.com and go to the store and find their grille insert for sedans. It comes w/ mesh and is a little more appealing than what you're suggesting, at least IMO.

I looked, I think he only had liftback inserts plus I don't wanna essentially pay over 100-120 bucks on a grill after having to get it painted.

I'm out of sedan mesh grills at the moment. They do look great though IMO

It is, I'm not very good so it doesn't look super clean.

I love the one from MicroImage as well. I'm getting one of the Liftback mesh ones soon for my upper grill. Just have to do a custom lower grill because nobody makes one yet.

I probably would end up getting the one off Garm if he had any, but since he doesn't I gotta do something else. A good thing about if this custom one fails, I still have the stock upper to put back in.

I'd see if he's getting any more, and just spraypaint it black. Then spraypaint a clear coat over it. That way, no expensive painting involved.

True, it wouldn't look too bad. I guess one can of flint mica spray for 20 bucks might be able to do the job as well. Didn't he get them from Thailand? Also, if you plan on doing a custom lower grill we should get together one of these days so that way we can kill two birds with one stone, haha. I'm also real close to buying the nf210s as well.

Most likely, lots of his stuff comes from Thailand. Shoot him a PM and see if he expects any soon.

Lol, gotta say I wasn't expecting you to do it so soon. Gotta work a midnight shift tonight then gotta go over to Brookefield, Ohio tomorrow. Maybe here in a couple/few weeks I'll take the drive out that way. Also, where do you plan on getting the material?

I'm pretty sure I have some mesh left over from what I used before (on my old Civic), if not, I'll pick it up at Lowes.
