Okay so first i will say i am completely sold on this process. I wish today was sunny but its a cloudy day i will try to take some more pictures when its sunny. You dont need to use any type of dish soap such as dawn to strip the wax. Just the 3 step process. 4th step would be claybar if you wish to do this first. I only claybared the hood and top of vehicle since there was a tiny bit of debri.
First i applied cleaner wax. Once i was done i then applied the polish the step 2. After the polish was done you could really see the shine. Also the car was squeeky clean. kinda how a dish is when you finish cleaning it with dish soap. So i would assume step 1 and 2 removed all coats of wax that i had on the vehicle. Then finally applied meguires nxt 2.0 wax. This is only the first layer i plan to apply 3 more layers over the corse of 2 more days allowing 24 hours for it to cure and harden between.
Then i will hit it with a high quality carnuba wax for even more depth and shine.
But so far i am liking the results. Took me a total of about 2.5 hours from start to finish with few breaks.
Enjoy the pics =)

Oh yeah i forgot to mention the best part. No more microscratches in the clear coat. The car looks better than the day i purchased it. Even in good light at a angle you see no surface scratches at all whatsoever. Its back to perfect showroom condition =)

omg yaris sedan, you did not touch up those photos in any way?? the depth of shine looks  i dont know if I can handle more coats of the wax! nice job
speaking of that, when you re-apply over several days, how do you prep the surface each time? to remove dirt of a days driving

Nope no touch up whatsoever i dont even have photoshop on my computer. Just used gimp to resize them. I plan to keep the car in my garage for 2 days while i rewax. And just drive my acura. Plus i checked the weather and its supose to rain really soon. So going to keep it garaged while i finished the detail and bring it out when its nice and sunny. Nxt 2.0 supose to required 12 hours to fully cure and should not be exposed to liquids.
I am very anxiouse how the final coat of wax will come out especially on a very sunny day. I need to get a good digital camera im using my cel phone to take the pics

Doing the whole process start to finish makes a MASSIVE difference. I think half the reason people like Zaino wax so much is that they really encourage you to do the whole process (strip wax, clay, wax, polish, polish).
As your pics show, you can get an amazing shine if you take the time and do it right.

The car looks great, dont get me wrong, but to properly do the 3 step, should take more then 2 1/2 hours. Exp if by hand. Thats basically just putting it on, and wiping it off, no working it in and correcting anything in the paint.
Just to properly polish a car with a DA i can and do spend 2+ hours, and thats just doing polish, no wash, no paint clean, and no wax. Especially when waxing should be a minimum 30 minute process.
And if thats all you did, you basically cleaned the paint, and waxed it. And most freshly washed and waxed cars will look that good, especially in none direct sunlight, seems to be a bit cloudy.
I'm really not trying to be an jerk, but I dont want people to get the wrong impression about what the 3 step can achieve in that sort of time.

Very nice results. I've been using that same 3 step process for years now. Step 1 (painter cleaner) takes about an hour on a car our size. According to the instructions, you apply to one panel at a time, then buff off. Same goes for Step 2 (polish). Finally on step three (wax) you apply, wait for it to haze (approx 2 hours) then buff it off. Everyone always is blown away with how my cars look. Overall the process takes 3-4 hours if you take your time.

I have been detailing cars for years so have it down to a system. Anyone else would expect to probally take another 30min to a hour longer than i did so say 3-3.5 hours. The cleaner wax you can allow it to haze but the polish you are supose to work a panel at a time and do not allow it to dry.
The final coat of wax does need to allowed to be haze which believe it or not if its a hot and sunny day can take as little as 30 seconds if not a couple of minutes. You are putting on a very THIN coat. Not heavy. My bottle of wax has lasted me over 2 years and i have done several cars.

You got it right. You want to let the nxt cure for atleast 12 hours before the carnuba.
Final step make sure you get a rubber and plastic polish and detail all the black trim like around the wiper blades and the tire rubber. Also clean inside and outside of glass with stoners invisible glass.
I actually have special micofiber clothes ones for interior, exterior, and glass. Also 3 seperate wax applicators for each step. And drying towels.
Make sure not to mix your microfiber cloths for removing wax with the ones that you use to clean your windows when you was them or you may get wax residue on your inside glass which you will find out later at night.

If its that bad make sure you claybar your car first then. That way you will remove all dirt to give you the best depth and clarity when you put on the final coat.

But your saying your just putting the polish on the car. Polish does NOTHING unless you work it. You cant put it on like a wax or a cleaner, you have to physically work it to do any kind of paint correction, otherwise its a wasted step.
And using a DA (random orbital buffer) still takes 1.5-2.0 hours to do a while car (even the size of the yaris). Because i'm properly working the polish to correct flaws in the paint, rather then just wiping it on and off. And if your doing it by hand, it shoudl take even longer, cause your working it at a far slower pace.

I did work it. Which is why im wearing a elbow brace today lol. Trying to recover from the detail i did yesterday. I didnt have to work some areas that hard since some were not as bad as others.

YarisSedan

i left it in the garage for 24 hours and didnt drive it between the coats and just drove my other car. Otherwise you would ahve to wash it between each coat or atleast quickdetail it.

You can use QD between coats. Its actually the best thing to do. You can even use it after buffing to get the shine just right. NXT is great stuff. Two coats and then wax it if you want. Meg's #26 work great on top. QD to keep it up and you're good to go.

all I can say is I vouch for the quick detailer liquid......wife had a 92 corolla in 'every '92 corolla' white, and the clear coat (or integrated clear coat) was gone and oxidation of the paint was occurring. the only thing I used on that paint was QD, and it sheened the paint and actually caused water to bead and roll off completely when it rained...

All I can say is... wow.
Thanks for the pictures and all the information. I will definitely be trying this soon. Actually I am going to repaint the entire car first. Hail damaged a lot of the top last summer, and I rather have everything repainted then just the hood/roof/trunk. And then I will do this process(probably minus step 1 since it will be new paint?)

do you use any type of motorized buffer or device during this process or is it all by hand? anyone can recommend a device that will assist in detailing the exterior of a car, maybe something that would hook to an existing battery operated drill?

ohok, these are great tips.. the only bad part about it and is missing is a complete communication process. you convey and we understand and voula! communications.. ha ha ha. ok, enough having fun here. i get most of what you have written and since am dont know nothing about detailing i dont have the foggiest ideat of what products to use. you see, am not the only one who would love to have a shinny car like you. please, set up a list of products with names and what it is used for and where to get them. for example:
for a dirty car who usually park out off a garage.
1. claybar-product-store- name-how to apply
2. paint cleaner- p..name- how to
..and so on..
garaged car
1.. so on and so on..
that would be the best way to get your point across to those who want to be like you but needs to be up to speed.
thank you for reading and i hope to see a nice list, products with names, and quick how to notes.

Excellent work YarisSedan!
Don't forget to clay bar your windows too! I did basically the same process last September as YarisSedan (nice color choice by the way - Flint Metallic Mica FTW ). I could hardly believe how much crud came off on the clay bar! I use a Porter Cable random orbital buffer, sure does save the arms!

Yeah i been looking to get a porter cable but endeded getting a cordless polisher instead. Good for when your on the go or when im doing mobile detailing.
The results last more than few days. My shine last for about 2 months. And i can boost it whenever i want with quick detail or spray wax. The main purpose of this is to protect the paint and to remove contaminants. So that your car will stay looking new longer than have a higher resale value when you are ready to sell it.

Possibly (I used the clay bar in conjunction with the Quick Detailer), or you may have to go with something more aggressive. In the past I've used a powdered cleaner (like Comet - the no scratch kind) with a 'no scratch' Scotch Brite pad and water on the windows, then followed it up a glass polish product. If you have a buffer for the final step, it's much easier to do! Don't forget to clean the inside of your windows with a high quality glass cleaner. I use old newspaper as it does not leave any lint or residue behind. <Thanks!>
YarisSedan - totally agree! -> "The results last more than few days. My shine last for about 2 months. And i can boost it whenever i want with quick detail or spray wax. The main purpose of this is to protect the paint and to remove contaminants. So that your car will stay looking new longer than have a higher resale value when you are ready to sell it." Also the car cleans up much easier when it needs to be washed again.

I wanted my car to look all purdy for this WE meet up in Marin County
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20964
so I washed it and dried it, and then applied the Meguiars cleaner wax. (I did that because I bought my car used 6 months ago, and I don't know what kind of wax they put on it befpre, I know I should probably have clayed it but I'm not ready to do the whole thing just yet) Anyway. That was step 1. It took me a long time, maybe 2 1/2 hours to do it by hand, so I didn't have time to do anything else to the car the same day.
So if I understand correctly, my next step is to wash the car again (since I'm driving it now) dry it with microfibers towels, and then apply the Meguiars deep crystal product on the picture, then let that dry for a while, then apply the NXT meguiars wax on top? Is that it?
Final step make sure you get a rubber and plastic polish and detail all the black trim like around the wiper blades and the tire rubber. Also clean inside and outside of glass with stoners invisible glass.
I actually have special micofiber clothes ones for interior, exterior, and glass. Also 3 seperate wax applicators for each step. And drying towels.
I was wondering about that. What do yo use on the outside vinyl / rubber parts?
Also, what do you use to clean the headlights with? (plastic cleaner? or will Stoners be OK on there?)
When you're done, do you wash all the towels together with laundry soap, or do you separate them (wax towels = 1 load, everything else = a different load? Do you use laundry soap or nothing at all on your microfibers towels?
Hey so does the claybar get the water stains off the window???? I need to know because its been hard drviving during sunset time. You did a good job man.
I'm having the same problem. My Yaris has water stains which Stoner's invisible glass cleaner couldnt get out, at least not this time. Clay? Vinegar? Try Stoner's again with newspaper and more elbow grease? ;)
BTW, My car is a 2007, with almost 60K miles already. Just got it used a few months ago, and I want to keep it in the best possible shape inside out, but it's not like I'm working with a new car, you know, and it does sit outside all day, and of course, I don't know how they cleaned it before I got it but the dealership had it really shiny when I bought it.
PS. I will post pictures of my products and my car being washed in a day or so.

Megires makes a product that treats all the rubber plastic parts. For protecting the window moldings etc. I mainly wash my glass cleaner clothes seperate for what i use to clean wax with. But lately i been putting it all together since when i detail several cars in a day i have a huge load. I throw it all in a 5 gallon bucket dump about 7 scoops of oxyclean and a scoop of laundry detergent. Then poor in super ultra hot water. And let it all soak for about 5 hours. Then dump out most of the water and throw it in the washing machine.
When you dry them if you use a dryer make sure you dont use fabric softner.

Sorry i wont be able to meet i have work that day. My shop is in the process of a lot of changes right now. Were moving racks around and putting a wall up to sublease half of the shop. Today i found out that PB blaster which is pretty much WD 40 when sprayed on the shop floor you can push a rack with 2 people across it to move it form one spot to another LOL. Didnt have to dissasemble it at all. It did though take 5 cans worth to move one single rack. But afterwards we had fun runing from one side of the shop and then sliding 20 feet across to the other lol. What a way to end the day.
