Make sure wherever you go, they have a machine for it, and don't use a baseball bat. lol

He is cool and mellow for sure. He's been busy tuning and stuff at his shop; but when he's done, i am going to have him tune my car.

He IS open on sat and sun, but like he told me, it depends how late he stays out the night before to see what time he will open the shop! haha

I am excited for you!

Good to hear those guys ordered their yaris. My friend who lives down the street from me just ordered a 09 S model, 5 speed, power package, in Silver. He's going to mod his car too! :headbang:

Yaris cruises at the end of the year! :burnrubber:

Where do I begin with mods!?...there's too many things to think about, so little knowledge, so little money, so many threads to read....:help:

Hosh, This is the must get mods I recommend for the biggest difference you can FEEL.

1.Corolla TB
2.Intake
3.AxleBack exhaust (Not a custom 2 or 2.5 inch. You will lose back pressure and wont feel anything)
4.Short Shifter

Those are the cheap mods I recommend for the best Bang. You will FEEL the difference not just think it lol

Another mod which will make a dramatic difference are rims....

I am using Enkei RPF1. They only weight9.5lb eash which is WAY lighter than the stock 16lb steel rims. Many light aftermarket are around 12-13.5.

With the lighter and wider rims you get better......

Acceleration
Braking
Cornering
Suspension response

Another super easy mod is upgrading your grounding system to a large 0 guage wire connecting the negative terminal to the body. This helped my throtle response and made shifting smoother(auto trans).

PETERPOOP
05-07-2009, 06:50 PM
even though my wheels are only 10 pounds (16x7), the weight of the rim and new tire are together heavier than my stock steelies were with their tires. I felt the difference immediately. oh wells. if they ever made a drag strip here, i'll put my stockies in the back and some slicks up front.

gwasabi
05-07-2009, 06:57 PM
Uhm....No you wont because if you do that you'll lose traction in the back and you'll spin out on a drag strip.....

PETERPOOP
05-07-2009, 07:01 PM
then i'd need some new wheels designated for the strip. maybe in the next 10 years when they build the track

gwasabi
05-07-2009, 07:03 PM
I would just use slicks all around lol. Anyway I thought they were building the KRP?

gwasabi
05-07-2009, 07:04 PM
also like to mention that the yaris is REALLY fun for Tray sliding hahaha

PETERPOOP
05-07-2009, 07:07 PM
putting trays under the rear tires?

pfft who knows when the krp is done. is that just a race track, or is it a 1/4 mile strip?

battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 07:41 PM
slicks up front and stock rims in rear is a perfect set up my crx is in the 9's and wont spin out cause you can even go down to a 5 inch skinny rim in the rear and not worry about spin out but if you do use the stocks for drag racing please adjust the rear damper to max stiffness so this provides better traction for the front tire and reduce the squat effect which will cause the front to vibrate like crazy and end result is broken axle. trust me ive done it launching a 12000rpm on stock axles with out adjusting the rear dampners. if you run all slicks all around you would actually be slower because the slicks on the rear will create a drag. slicks are not neccessary as you dont have enough power to pull em i would run good tires like bf goodrich tractions i use to run those in the street class on my 9 sec crx and they hold up to 500hp just run them like 10psi lower on the front and burn out

battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 07:42 PM
the track they building wont be done for a while its the last to be built um but its a 1/8 mile track

battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 08:00 PM
sorry i just wanted to make it clear due that i do travel with my hatch and crx to mainland and stuff for nhra, nopi, street heaters races around the usa and have my license to pilot below 10's which im already in the 9's on my crx now

battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 08:04 PM
and also slicks if you can sit there and smoke them there not effective because by the time you line up there not as hot and sticky not unless you burn out the burn out in vht then yeah you be good. thats why cherry street tires are awesome for drags. i actually run better on street tires then i do on slicks even tho traction on the bottom is kinda shitty. thats why people grab dot slicks the street kind cause they give you both a slick and a road tire and i would like to add i run a real skinny rim and tire on mine i think the width is no bigger then 4 in

gwasabi
05-07-2009, 08:10 PM
Lol ^ there you go. Like I said I don't know shit about cars gotta listen to someone who knows.

I would figure you don't need slicks on our cars too little power. I would have to agree with you on running good tires but Peter seemed like he really wanted to use slicks.

Hmmm I just thought he'd spin out with stock tiresin the rear cause our rear is actually lighter than the front and you can feel it in the hatchback. Like when I go over bumps and stuff there is like Almost NO weight in the rear so I thought it'd be a bad idea but again, I never drag race, More into grip lol

PETERPOOP
05-07-2009, 09:10 PM
Lol ^ there you go. Like I said I don't know shit about cars gotta listen to someone who knows.

that says it all

but Peter seemed like he really wanted to use slicks.

you are seriously retarded. did you get this from my one statement of saying i'd run slicks in the front and stocks in the back? yah, i REALLY really wanted to use slicks so bad. oh boy i do....

battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 09:16 PM
drag racing you dont have to worry about bumps and stuff but you do have to worry about lift that what will cause a car to lose traction on fwd car but your not going more then 125 so you dont need to worry about that. grip racing you do have to worry about loosing traction in the rear but thats also compansated on a properly set up suspension comes down to dampening control chassis flex chamber rebound tires toe setting downforce wing adjustment and braking force all come into play about grip racing. drag racing the more zerod out the alignment the less resistence you have the more aerodynamically the car is the better and down force or position of the wing is all key to keeping the rear planted at higher speeds. as for drag racing you want as much weight as possible on the front anyways to keep the front down and traction there

Yah..so Ive been driving an automatic 2dr echo for awhile..(had to drive from North Shore to UH Manoa everyday...i was sold on the gas mileage!)...I always told Peterpoop it had some potential (the engine..not really the body.hah), but he didnt buy it..he laughed...NOW im hearing that the Yaris (same engine) is a fun 4 cyl that has potential even with minor mods, you can feel the diff..sheesh. :iono:

Anyways...excuse my "noobness"...how does the corolla TB (throttle body) work with the Yaris exactly? and do you have to worry about ECU and tuning?..or am I way off base here?

Taiyaki

I hear it just drop in a good to go, but some people said to just swap the chip to get rid of the oscillation. idk yoshi done it, im sure he will give you the run down.

Thanks...I'm looking around for rims that will match a silver Yaris...so far ive been persuaded to something in bronze...still looking for brands...idk...i still got some time since my car dont come in till July!..haha

Thats cool how a little wiring can make a change...This probably won't be effective in a manual though, right?

I wouldn't think you'd feel anything on a grounding kit. I had a grounding kit on my g but no help at all....on the other hand it was FBC. oh well.

The throttle body is actually bigger than the stock one which lets more air into the car. Think of it like a beefed up version of a intake. More air means more combustion. Mo pauwa!

Your gonna have some side effects though. nothing you can't fix. I'll help you out with it.
Oscuillation is one
HIgh Cold Start Idle
CEL

These are the sideeffects but I have been able to fix all except the high cold start idle.

I'm actually looking for some 1zz injectors to play around with but the junk yarddoesn't seem to have any hahaha I might just have to buy em or look somewhere else

battleversiontc

grounding wires do alittle bit but you dont feel it um dont buy just make your own outta 8 ga wire thats all it is and plus to you can actually make em look clean i run a set on my yaris i even tied all the coil ground screws and ground it and it made some difference on accleration i think they made like 2 hp or something like that when they dyno'd it
