View Full Version : Gauging interest on hub spacers for the yaris
Tamago

i'm getting ramped up to build more hub spacers and want to get a semi-accurate count on how many i should build.
please choose "yes" in the poll if you'd be interested in spacers @ $75shipped to continental US (and reasonable shipping to canada too of course)

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e239/fatherdutami/xd-yaris%20hub%20spacers/P1000944r.jpg
if the results are favorable i'll be getting a vendor account here :)

What do these actually do for you...

What do these actually do for you...
they allow you to get your vehicle's track width closer to equal. the car normally comes with about 1" wider track front vs rear.
one of those "little" mods that you can actually feel in the corners
they also allow you to buy a "proper" offset wheel for the front of your car and space the rear out to look more flush (without rubbing). they're "better" than wheel spacers, as they do not require you to have longer lug bolts, and because you're spacing the HUB not the WHEEL, you do not see as much wear on wheel bearings.
will come with class 12.9 socket head capscrews (allen head) and hardened washers.

do you think you could make some that reduce the toe?
Tamago

do you think you could make some that reduce the toe?
very difficult to do that, as i don't know the specific drop your car has. as the suspension compresses, negative camber turns into toe-in.
i could, however, provide two stainless washers to be installed under the lower front bolt. this is how i achieved my current setup (toe out, and a little extra camber)

I've got the v 1.0s on our Yaris currently and they are great. Getting a 2nd set of 13mm's is kind of tempting though.
Keep me posted on the progress of this, count me in. :)

if you want to test how this would fit, i have wheels that'll essentially give you the same offset as 13mm spacers & your current wheel setup.
or were you thinking to ADD 13mm to your current 10mm?:clap:

:bellyroll:
I was thinking of swapping the 10s for the 13s.
and keeping the 10's just in case.
the price is too good not to have 2 different sets, having the flexibility to easily change the rear spacing when I buy new wheels is really comforting.

what's the difference between the 2 and do you think i need this mod?
Tamago

one is 10 mm wide
the other is 13mm wide
so the difference is 3mm
what wheel/tire are you running, and on what suspension?
Russelt3hPirate
04-30-2009, 11:51 AM
I think Every Yaris needs this, it really changes the handling/look, as they say you "need" a +42mm in the front to avoid rubbing, but you don't "need" a +42mm in the rear, hell I'm running a +25mm effective offset in the rear right now. :)

trd evolution's on 215/35/18's with tein's.....
im stupid so the extra 3mm means it will stick out further than 10mm?
The extra 3mm means it'll stick out 13mm, yes.

what's the width/offset on the wheels

stick out isn't the correct term.
it will push the wheel outward 13mm total from where it is now.
it will not stick out unless you have an offset of 30mm or lower to start with.

most likely a 7" wheel.
Personally the 10mm would probably be best for you since you're running the wider tire.

agreed.
so here's how it should go:
+40mm or lower (+38 for example), purchase 10mm spacers (if your tire is 215 or wider)
+40mm or lower (+38 for example) purchase 13mm spacers if your tire is 205 or skinnier)
on a 7" wide wheel. anyone running 6.5" wheels, no matter what offset should be able to run the +13 spacers without ANY issues.
and FYI the bolts are long enough to handle two sets of 10MM if one so desired. (that'll make your rear track 40mm wider!)

i have the SPC shims on it right now, and i put them on when the car was stock. the full alignment really changed the car in a good way so i dont want to lose that. but i could get another set of them, put the spacers on, get another alignment, and redo the shims. i like a tiny bit of toe-in the rear, stock it has massive toe in the rear.
or i could just leave the shims as is and add the spacers

I would suggest a realignment, you never know which setting can change once you take apart a suspension. :( (don't ask why I know...haha).

Definitely interested in the 13mm, although my wheels are +45 with 195 tires, sooooo should I do two 10mm or what?

for your setup a +13mm would be a good idea to get the most out of it.

They are a pain to work with and not worth the price when you can get some washers that will do the same thing with a little math. :)

i believe i can get them anodized, however it would be at the mercy/timeline of the anodizer.. in order to make the process affordable i'd need to wait til they were doing a run of "red" parts and have yours slipped in with them. i will be providing an anti-corrosion compound to be applied to the parts, as aluminum+steel = trouble in salty regions.
