Need help installing springs

Hey, quick question for anyone who might know. I'm installing progress springs on my '07 liftback, and am running into a bit of an issue.

After we get it all installed, the top is sitting really loose when we lower the car, resulting in a clunking sound whenever the car hits any sort of bump.

Any ideas? :iono:

Are you talking about the front or back making the noise?

I think you didn't install them properly. The clunking sounds like the strut bearing, maybe.

Basically what it is is the part of that extends into the engine bay, its sitting too high up and knocking whenever any bump is hit.

It seems that we're not getting enough compression on the spring.

Did you install the spring with a spring compressor, or did you try to fudge it by lowering the car to compress the spring before tightening the bolt?

Did you cut the bump stop? did you match up the grooves? sure the springs aren't upside down? try setting the car down and then tightening the bolts after the car is on the ground.

How can you tell what side is up? Pretty sure they're not.

You can tell by the Logo. If the Logo is there. The part where the Coils are closer together is bottom I believe.

Ok try lifting the car. Make sure the assemble is in all the way, tighten it all the way. Drop the car on the ground (Not literally) then tighten the bolt some more if its possible.

Like have someone hold the assembly up while you tighten the nut.
