Hopefully my little blue skate will be ok. Sorry for the bad pictures, it was still kinda dark out and raining. My second time a deer hit me in a toyota, first was in a 1999 Corrolla.

you are very lucky to not get a head on with the deer. That's very minor damage. I once seen a TREE FLY BY, it hit the hood deflector and continued it's way, without damaging anything lol. It was at night, so nobody saw it... Or i must be crazy XD
BTW, you decide where you want your car to be fixed. It's not up to the insurance to pick a place for you. I'd bring it back to the dealer...

Yeah, I'm fine, just scaried me alittle. If I didn't hit the deer I would of gotten rear ended very badly, I either had to hit the deer or veer off the road or get rear ended, no way out of that one. The person behind me was pretty much on my bumper. When I hit the dear I veered off unto the small shoulder, and the guy behind me also hit a deer too.

Yeah, I'm taking to a auto body place 5 minutes from my house, they do good work, my father is a retired autobody teacher, he will stop by during the car getting fix to make sure it is done right.

I HATE deer. There should be a longer deer hunting season. I got hit by one about a week or two after I got my last car.

You know, deer don't hit your moving car. You hit them because once you are close enough, they jump out, and GET hit. lol
I'm lucky enough to live somewhere where deers don't reside. But we have raccoons and squirrels running across streets and highways all the time... THEY get hit alot... And it's really not the best thing to see when they get hit. Brain and blood squashing out and spread all over the place when that happens.

It doesn't look like you killed the deer... You just got it mad enough that it keyed your passenger door...

Not sure if you're still driving it (it's obviously in good enough condition), but you might want to look at that tire... just above the red dot it looks like there might be some sort of perforation in the sidewall.

From the looks of things, there probably won't even be any cutting involved. Just a lot of wrenching, and some minor hammering to re-align all the bolt-holes. It hit the front fender, and the door, the main vehicle looks just fine. So yeah, easy to replace the damaged pieces at least!

Got the estimate done, a little more damage then I thought, the quarter panel is dented at the rocker area and minor- minor frame damage (just a tap on the unibody). The estimate came out to be about $1750. Also it will need some alignment work it is all out of wack on that. Not as bad as I thought, insurance is covering it all, I got a rental car also it is a Ford fusion (all they had other than a minivan), not a bad car ,pretty nice for what it is. They will have it though next week.

This is what I missed looking at it the first time. Oh yeah, went by to see if deer was still there and it wasn't just some blood. Don't know if I killed it but it is hurt for sure.

No, I saw this deer about 20-30 feet before hand, I slowed down *going about 10 mph* and it just ran straight into my car. It could of ran across or stayed in the time and instead it decided, it would wait til I got side by side with it and it would ram into my fender.

Sorry to hear you had that run in.
I work second shift, so coming home at night can be an interesting experience, since
I go through a wooded area with winding roads. It was raining tonight, and someone
had told me that deer don't stand out in the rain, but take shelter.
Well, I can tell you we saw at least one deer standing by the side of the road.
Do you suppose they like newer cars?? Mine just went over the 4,000 mile mark.
Now, after reading your post, I am going to be even more cautious. :eyebulge:

Car is at the body shop they said they only have to replace the fender, they are going to repair everything else (door, rocker panel). I will have it back next week. Until then I'm enjoying the Fusion, but really miss the gas milege of my yarii.

Glad your ok . So no BBQ huh ?
Just for the record , Whitetail deer antlers are just starting to develop at this time of year . So I doubt it was a 10 point . It may be a 10 point by the end of July . Yes , deer antlers fall off in January every year .

I hit a Deer doing 60mph in my '89 Isuzu Imark RS with the Lotus suspension. Awesome car!
Anyways, I caught it in the left front corner. I thought I'd hit a person. Anyways, my headlight was gone, drivers door hit so hard the window exploded (thank God I had tints!) and the window frame at the top of the door was bent away from the body, allowing in water. My rear quarter panel was a little worse than yours. Anyways, I bent the window frame back, bought a new glass for $50 and a headlight for $40 and was back on the road in about two days.
It was a very scary thing, and it was on an unlit road too. The deer was dead on the side of the road. It was 12/23 so it was cold out. I remember seeing the steam coming off the carcass. BTW, deer freakin' smell! This thing stunk, mabye it was the steamy guts????:iono:
BTW, not my Durango.

Got an center arm rest for the car, free because I have the Toyota rewards visa and had enough points on it to get the armrest. Kinda of a present for the blue skate.
