Im going to buy the power window and locks off A1 and I have a Clifford RS 3.5 laying around that I want to put on too. Anyone good with this kind of stuff?
Yoshi I remember you use to do your own woofer installs, do you know about alarms also? haha
If not then can anyone recommend me to a shop? I called Jackson at Security and Sounds but they said they wont touch the aftermarket locks, they order the parts from toyota only.

Maybe call warren at mobile car audio, they did my alarm.
gwasabi
05-06-2009, 05:45 PM
wow you know warren? hahahah he used to work with me before. I think he moved to the pearl city one. BRing your ca around Taka, I can hook the alarm up. Power windows I gotta t ake a look. IF the 07 and 09 are same then I should be able to install the alarm.
808_Yaris
05-06-2009, 07:26 PM
^yeah he's a nice guy, very helpful with the alarm since he ran into some problems.

05-06-2009, 08:00 PM
Sweet awesome! I didnt order the power locks or windows yet but ill do that tonight. Right now im installing my double din, tach, debadge, get my saftey check again, THEN put my HIDs, and if still have enough sun light my SRI. so happy

my tach isnt working! :[ i hooked everything up and I get no reading. But got my double din done. do you guys know whats up with my tach?
gwasabi
05-07-2009, 03:10 AM
tapped into the wrong wire probably. You probably tapped into nothing. Did you stick it into the D Connector? if you did and your car didn't come with tach, you don't have a tach signal going into your tach
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 03:21 AM
Idk this guy and others with 09s said to tap into a wire, but when I did, still never got a read. It lights up so I know my other wires are ok, I tapped my ground to the stereo black wire, but tapped it to the car and still dont work.
I had the same problem with my celica, and I tapped it threw the firewall to the tach fuse under the hood. I want to try but cant find it on the yaris.
Someone said I might have blew the somthing and broke it, MAN! this tach was super expensive! I would cry
gwasabi
05-07-2009, 03:32 AM
use a Multimeter to see if a signal is being sent into that wire or connector port
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 03:40 AM
I have one, but like many other tools i have, I have no idea how to use it. Could i use a test light?
gwasabi
05-07-2009, 03:42 AM
just put the positive where the wire goes and the negative to a ground. Then turn the car on. If you get power on the Multimeter it means its the right hole or wire if u dont it's a dead lead.
gwasabi
05-07-2009, 03:42 AM
if u like meet me tomorrow at school and I'll take a look at it. I have time around 3 let me know
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 03:48 AM

gwasabi
05-07-2009, 03:49 AM

its the greenish blue wire on the obd2 diagnostic port right near the hood latch its the farthest left wire the last left column thats the tach wire never use a test light on these obd 2 cars always use a computer safe test light and yes there is a difference between the two test lights. you cant blow up a tach if anybody told you that there stupid you can fry a tach but only if you reverse polarity it by putting power to ground and ground to power but not by trying to hook up a tach wire. if it didnt come with a tach you still have a tach wire. the wiring is the same through every yaris even if they didnt come with a tach its still wired because the ecu still needs a tach signal to know when to fire the coils since there is no distributor
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 04:29 AM
That was the first wire I tried, but after it didnt work, I was told that 09's have a different wire. So I tried that wire and still doesnt work. unless i tapped the wrong green wire.
this is the green wire i tapped on the OBD2
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v520/02Sakura/P4250007.jpg
and this is the wire other told me to tap and still didnt work
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v520/02Sakura/P4250009.jpg
haha and i thought it would be a quick 30min install...
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 04:30 AM
um imma go look at the schematic sheet real quick
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 04:37 AM
actually try the blue wires i know they come in pairs thats why thats how my 08 is
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 04:42 AM
haha ok ill try all the blue ones, now this wont like blow up my tach will it? haha
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 04:48 AM
ok well im bored, so im going to go try all the blue wires now, and will let you know. haha
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 04:49 AM
no it wont but its the lt green wire thats what my wire diagram says are you sure you getting main power i would try re grounding it to the chassis and running the power wire to the cig you might be not getting enough voltage and what kinda of tach is it anyways
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 04:53 AM
I grounded it to the chassis and powered to the deck. I have a Pivot tach, my friend just came back from Japan so I told him to pick it up for me. 24,800 yen didnt want to pay that much but it is a sexy tach~ haha
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:01 AM
what colors come out of the tach
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:04 AM
red is ignition orange is constant 12 volts black is ground white is rpm tach signal i found my old manual so the orange you using is the 12 volts constant wire and you should be able to hook the white wire to the brown wire i believe thats the tach its the same pin as my 08 but my color is green
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 05:05 AM
Ok I jsut tried all of the blue wires and still no go, and idk why but now the backlight stays on.
The wires coming out is Orange, red, white, black. all with gray dots.
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:08 AM
ok well how you have it hooked up follow my post that i just posted those are the correct placement of the wiring refer to post 28
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:13 AM
let me know if that works
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 05:13 AM
oh crap! haha
I dont know the names like 12volt consistant, but if im tapping from my deck it would be
[tach to deck]
red to yellow
black to well ground
orange to red
white to tach
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:18 AM
red to red
orange to yellow
black to ground
white to the lt brown wire in the obd2 plug
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:19 AM
that is why its not working and i realized it once i saw the pics and looked at my manual
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:31 AM
so hopefully that works out for you
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 05:36 AM
Sweet it works! but my backlight is on even with the car off. maybe i shouldnt tap to the yellow on the deck? ill try search i remember seeing lots of post when trying to look for how to fix mines. thanks man
battleversiontc
05-07-2009, 05:37 AM
actually tap the red and orange wires together that will make it turn off with the key. no problem glad to help
Taiyaki
05-07-2009, 05:40 AM

rojah. you ordered the parts for the power locks and windows right? how much was it?
Taiyaki
05-19-2009, 12:37 AM
It was 310shipped.
battleversiontc
05-19-2009, 12:38 AM
damn 310 shipped how much was the power window stuff only i know the door locks are like 50 bux at bestbuy
Taiyaki
05-19-2009, 12:48 AM
I think power windows was 120. And power locks w/keyless entry was 140. And shipping was around 40. Oh yeah also bought a unlock switch since the kit only comes with remotes.
wait, i just realized this morning looking at my side views... are you adding on power mirrors too?
Taiyaki
05-19-2009, 05:17 PM
^I might later on. but not sure if i need them

battleversiontc
05-19-2009, 06:13 PM
i have power folding mirrors haha and power mirrors and yes im very lazy lol plus to power mirrors are cleaner looking cause you dont have the adjuster sitting on the other side
gwasabi
05-19-2009, 06:22 PM
Hahaha true true im glad my car came with power mirrors hahaha
I heard it's a bitch installing the power mirror motors though....good luck with that! lol
battleversiontc
05-19-2009, 06:41 PM

yeah ill call you up if can make em or not cause right nows i dont know
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 03:16 AM
I thought I would post here before going to the "DIY section"
So me and Gwasabi tried to install power windows. we got it all wired up BUT couldnt find a power source to tap to that wouldnt blow a fuse! I tapped it to pretty much every wire on the steering column and where we thought might work. But after blowing 2 fuses and 5 hours later we thought we better stop and find out.
So anyone know how we can do this? where to tap or get our power source from?
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 05:14 AM
theres the big fat black wire on the fuse block thats constant 12 volts or you can tap it into the the switch wire should be fine
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 05:47 AM
where is the fuse block? Is it behind the lower glove box thing where the tach wire is?
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 05:58 AM
yes sir sorry my bad i never answer your call i was the kine at one grad party and never hear my phone i was out in north shore side
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 06:33 AM
ok cool, I will try and finish tom'w. my gf is totally grossed out by my no door panel and gutted looking car... nah nah dont worry, just when we blew the first fuse, we had no idea why my tach and radio wasnt working. then found the blown fuse.
I took pics of me, Gwasabi, and Haku installing it. who wants to see? hahahaha funny stuff.
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 06:52 AM
Ok well I took a quick picture of what I think the fuse block is, and looked for fat black wire. and this looked like the fattest.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v520/02Sakura/P5110054.jpg
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 06:54 AM
its the one to the left of it
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 06:59 AM
This?!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v520/02Sakura/CopyofP5110054.jpg
Wow I didnt even know that HUGE thing was a wire. haha
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 07:00 AM
yeah thats a constant 12volt wire
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 07:03 AM
whoa sweet. Oh! also is it ok to tap the illumination wire to the red constant? just like we did with my tach? so the back light is always on.
edit: how would be the best way to tap that big wire? cut some rubber off and just twist the wire around it and tape it off?
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 07:08 AM
yup or you can find the alarm wires and tap into the red wire for the alarm thats also a 12volt constant that comes of the biggest harness on the alarm for the illumination wire i would tap it into the yellow wire off the alarm thats on the pack of wires that are all like stuck together so it turns off with the key
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 07:15 AM
Ok! ill give it a shot tom'w and will put my wheels on my car! will report back later tom'w with the good or bad news. Dude thanks again devin.
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 07:29 AM
no problem let me know when u get the alarm and stuff
gwasabi
05-23-2009, 04:26 PM
Is that 12 constant always on? I was trying to tap into a source that only turned on when the car was on but I guess it doesn't matter
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 04:52 PM
the big black wire yes is 12volts constant theres another wire that is ignition only when the key is turned on which is the one that he uses for the tach light
gwasabi
05-23-2009, 05:22 PM
Ok from what I can tell on the manual it says the power gos to ignition and the illumination switch goes to headlight or something. I think he needs to take the two wires apart. I think its blowing the fuse cause we have both the illumination switch and power wire spliced together.
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 05:25 PM
nah shouldnt not unless thats the main power it needs to move the windows
gwasabi
05-23-2009, 05:40 PM
yups it is the main power.
battleversiontc
05-23-2009, 06:57 PM
oh ok if its the main power you need constant 12 volts so hook em to the big black wire or the red wire off the alarm and the illumination is off the yellow wire coming off the alarm
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 10:21 PM
Ok when I tap to the big black wire it instantly blows the fuse, I did I twice just to make sure. Ill try tap it to the alarm red off the largest harness and the yellow off the one next to it thats all stuck together.
here we go!
Taiyaki
05-23-2009, 11:08 PM
Ok hooked it up to the yellow and red wire of the alarm. and it blew the tach/radio fuse, but the power window was working, even with the car off it worked. then it stopped. Im not sure if I blew two fuses, but i replaced the tach/radio fuse and tried again.
It blew the fuse again, so i took the illumination tap off the yellow wire and replaced the fuse, and tried. It didnt blow the fuse but it still wont work. No power. But im not sure if I blew two fuses, everything seems to work.
edit: Pulled and checked all the fuses in the inside and all good. quite confused
battleversiontc
05-24-2009, 04:41 AM
ok so one of two things either it draws to much current or something is grounding out in the unit itself
Taiyaki
05-24-2009, 06:04 AM
I was thinking. Could I tap it to a 25 fuse and put it in the empty power window slot?
battleversiontc
05-24-2009, 06:15 AM
try hool em up to the battery straight
Taiyaki
05-24-2009, 06:32 AM
ok ill try that now.
Ok total newb question, the wire wont reach to the engine bay, I dont know what gauge wire it is. could I use a smaller or bigger wire? or does it have to be the same gauge?
Taiyaki
05-24-2009, 07:05 AM
Ok tired to hook it up straight to the battery. and it blows the fuse. haha
battleversiontc
05-24-2009, 07:32 AM
can be smaller just to test it out
Taiyaki
05-24-2009, 07:43 AM
Ok yeah it blew the fuse that is connected to the red wire.
gwasabi
05-24-2009, 08:33 AM
maybe the illumination wire, you gotta run a fuse through it too..... not too sure though
yaris-me
05-24-2009, 01:34 PM
Buy a cheap multimeter and check for ground fault with the wire and the alarm. If there is a ground fault, the alarm is no good.
battleversiontc
05-24-2009, 02:08 PM
:laughabove:
wow not even close to what we are trying to figure out
Taiyaki
05-24-2009, 04:12 PM
^ I have a multi meter but yeah, not trying to work my alarm.
ok another thing i was thinking about. maybe we wired it wrong. i will try draw out in detail what we did.
Taiyaki
05-24-2009, 04:29 PM
Ok my drawing failed. here are pictures

05-24-2009, 09:41 PM
Ok I'm going to try hook up a relay. See if it will still blow fuses.
Which and where is the ignition wire? Haha

hey where is good places to tap my relay?
I bought a SPST relay. I was planning on tapping the "30" straight to the battery, "85" of course grounded, "87" to the power window red wire, and "86" to the Ignition wire (maybe tap the the yellow wire on alarm).
How does that sound devin?

Omg yes. Finally works. Now just need to do the passenger side and clean up the wires because it's a mess. I will pick up the viper alarm tom'w. And I'll ask them about power locks also.

haha i will post some tom'w when i finish working on them.
hey devin I went down and asked about the power lock kit and showed them the ones I have. They told me that I could use the ones I have and thats the power lock kit and keyless kit is separate. They just said that once I install the lock that just connect the brown and purple wire to the viper.
So whenever your free again, Im going to pick up the new viper alarm tom'w, and should be finished with my power windows. Im not sure about the Clifford wires, but I will try and clean up the power window wires (It a mess!)

Oh What guage wire and fuse should I use to connect my power straight to the battery? Right now im just using a thin wire just to test it, but people said to get thicker wire and stick a fuse over there.
