did you have to do anything in the glove box under the gauges or when it shuts it shuts fine and nothing hits anything. I really want a few more gauges like a temp volts and oil pressure. I cant stand not having those in the car.

Also were did you get the vent's at I want some

Just made a nice loom under there with clean wiring - it still opens and shuts fine (I've never really used it though).

The vents are a re-used cheap mesh wastebasket

I wonder if a mesh grill will work if i find one small enough. I really like how that looks

Kind of funny coming from you Thomas.... your interior pic again, please? LOL

As for the phone, you can flame me for that.... I should probably get something new soon.
That HTC looks amazing... I like my Sprint coverage, though.

Either way you look at it, HTC is the best innovator of touchscreen smartphones at this point. Besides Apple.

Quality is good, and their products arent always pretty to look at, but your glad you didnt get a Samsung or LG once you get the HTC.

Don't doubt the man's cell phone...in terms of vehicles, I don't think I'd question Garm's taste.

Nice setup as always.

I think you can get it unlocked for sprint eother that or i thnk its made for sprint.

Honestly id rather put more money into my car though, which is why i have a crappy phone.

The m520 isnt actually that bad, its a pretty big seller

Ohhhh ya

How'd you do the dash gauge set up? I imagine you cut through the dash, but with what kind of tool?

ChinoCharles
05-11-2009, 11:44 AM
A hole saw.

cali yaris
05-11-2009, 12:41 PM
^ yep, exactly. Just tape the glove box with blue painting tape first (or whatever), cut SLOWLY, and you get a nice clean cut. I made the holes slightly small then used a tool (kind of like a curved file) to ream them out to a perfect fit.

autometer? :(

why not Defi?

would've been alot easier to install with gobs less wiring issues in the glove box.

daisy chain FTW!

Ditch the voltmeter for oil temp.

i'm doing that with mt SG. its not working out so well

cali yaris
06-07-2009, 12:22 PM
the SG is long, maybe it's because it doesn't conform to the curve of the glovebox. I used the SG for a while on the left side (where the AEM a/f gauge is), it worked fine.

Are you using heavy-duty double-sided tape? That should hold the sucker on there just fine.

Yes but the issue for me isn't the strength of the tape but the heat it's bombarded with day in and day out down here in Tampa. It heats up the adhesive and it can on last so long in 100+ degree heat. I need to rig up some kind of mounting bracket or something.

So Cal here, plenty of 100+ degree days... like yesterday.

Get one of those windshield reflective thingies?

I epoxied the window suction cup from my tom tom to the dashboard right behind the steering wheel. Its going on a year of lots of heat and sun.

And yes, a sun screen is imperative. If something is getting hot enough to melt glue/3m tape/epoxy, its hot enough to destroy the plasticizers in your dash, as well as fade the color.

Use it everyday. Not enough down here. Remember, we got humidity too.

But if you dont mind. Id like to steal your idea on the guage location you got there. Its very clean and convienient setup. I was going to get the A pillar pods, but this seems more practical.
