I recently bought a '09 yaris sedan and I love it.
I just want to ask one thing,
I connect mine to the car with an AUX cable,
and I want to have something that keep my ipod in reach,
so that I can change songs easily.
But the dashboard is right in the middle,
the power outlet is placed in a weird position.
so most of the car mount in store doesn't do the job
(will block the dashboard or my ipod would be in a position that is hard to see while driving)
I just wanna know where do you guys put your ipod?
What car mount or holder do you guys use?
Thx.

I use a vent-mounted cell phone holder.... does the trick for me :]
I've also seen a ipod mount that fits in a cup holder... that may work real well!

I put mine in the slot next to the parking brake lever.

I never cared for where the aux jack is located in the sedans. It is out of the way, but it's on the passenger side, which does make it a bit of a pain. I just keep the ipod in the little cubby that the jack is located in. When I use it I place it near the parking brake and hope it doesn't slip between the seats. I've also gotten used to putting an album on at the beginning of a trip and listening to it until the trip is over, (or at least until I get to a red light.)
There really are no easy places to mount an ipod for ease of use in the sedans that I can think of. At least the liftbacks have the slots near the parking brake...

I just lay mine on the passenger seat when I'm alone.
When I have a passenger, I'll either put in the cup holder or lay it right under the e-brake handle (it does fit flat with brake down).

Like Phaeton....I place mine in the slot next to the brake lever. It sits there just fine and is easily accessible.

In my glove box.
Then again, I have a after market headunit that allows for a direct connect ipod cable, which I also have

+1, nice to control the ipod thru the aftermarket deck

yeah but my pioneer does not always play nice with my old iPod Photo, doesn't recognize it at all sometimes, and it's slooooow to scroll through songs...
A DIY minded person could probably relocate the aux jack and put on some kind of mount on the glove box door area...

In my LB the aux jack is on the center console ahead of the break lever. I keep the Mp3 player in the slot by the lever.
Target had a Belkin 3 ft retractable car stereo cable for $13. It was worth the extra price to be able to lengthen and shorten the cable as needed with a quick tug. At a light or stop sign, I set the Mp3 on the steering wheel and quickly change to the album or folder, and then hit play all. With a quick tug, it starts to recoil and I drop it back into the center console cubby for the rest of the trip.

The Toyota Dealership has the retractable 3' ipod cable for $8.99 . I switched my foglight button with my aux jack b/c it is closer to slot near e-brake .

I usually just stick it on the passenger seat because its always just me in my car. I have not figured out a better spot yet.
Here's a riduculous question: what do I need to connect a Sansa mp3 player to my yaris stereo with the mp3 input?

Aux cable, or a "3.5 MM Audio Cable"
Same thing, any Best Buy or Radio Shack will have them.

I have a vent mounted holder I got at BestBuy for 10 bux. sorry for the dark picture, its dark outside.
It holds it in a good spot, and doesn't block my view of anything I need to see on the instrument panel.

Hiya,
Why dot you buy an iTrip from Griffin then you can put your iPod anywhere you want, the glove box, your pocket wherever.
You just set it to a station and tune it in on the radio.

Those FM transmitter things suck.
I have a LB (I know the OP has a sedan), but I put my ipod in the passenger side "pocket" next to the climate controls.

Yeah the FM things are crap. My girlfriend has one and the only place she can put it to get decent reception is with the cord around her windshield wiper controls and the ipod on the passenger seat. Plus it doesn't transmit in stereo, which is totally bogus.

Thanks for everyone's suggestion.
I think I will go with the vent mount.

I I actually run a cable in my liftback to the change holder (left side of driver) and have my ipod tucked away in there. Pretty convenient for the driver to access.

I went with a vent mount and cable runs directly down to the aux port. With the vent mount you can swivel so driver or passenger can use/read without detaching.

I've got an old 2g Sansa player that I keep in the slot next to the e-brake. That's where I keep my cell phone as well since I don't have the center arm rest so it's an easy reach. I've got a 3ft 3.5mm cable that makes it easy to pick up and check at lights. Between lights, I just keep it in one hand and hit the ffwd button to scroll through songs until I find one I like and then I let it play for a while.

I put my purse on top of the e-brake and sit my ipod in it. Works pretty well. Then i can just detach it from the cord and bring my ipod with me. (so no one Steals it!) :)
So you just need a purse.

What wire? And they dont suck I own one and it works perfectly! If I feel like a laugh I tune it to one of the popular stations signal and when I stop at the lights I look at the people close to me to see who has suddenly started hearing my music instead of the stations.
Heres a link iTrip (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itripnano)well worth it IMO
