Is that what that is from? Ive had that smell ever since like 20k miles, and didn't know or really care since it was only under hard acceleration, which I don't do that much of.

It must be hiding on the exhaust mani then, lol because it only smells under acceleration.

Yeah... if you beat on it and it smells like sulfur, call the dealership and tell them to order you the midpipe replacement and get that sheeyot before it is out of warranty.

 if only it worked like that.....

BTW: that tsb applies to 2007 and a few 2008's only. goes by vin number breakdown.....

WRONG, OP has an 08 and my parts dept. doesn't order ANYTHING unless its paid for ahead of time or there's a repair order written on car. i take it your dealer doesn't care about inventory if they just order anything over the phone especially a 1200 dollar pipe.....

But only after the Zone rep comes by and blesses the process

my dealer is pretty cool with that. I usually ask for the parts i need, and they put a note in my file. no down payment/ prepayment required.

They'd call me back in a couple days (they usually receive the parts next business day), and then i go pick them up and pay up.

My dealer is bullshit, they wanted me to pay upfront for a bumper cover (understandable) AND upfront for the labor to paint it (bullshit)

TSB EG035-06 has been revised and now applicable vehicle that apply to this are 2007 yaris liftback ONLY. It doesn't mean that it wouldn't be replaced if still under warranty 8 years/80,000 miles.....

The cat is covered under the Emissions part of the warranty . 80K or 9 years from production date or something like that . I waited and changed mine at 70K .

This is for 07 LB only

So mine is dead and ??? I am F'd? This seemed to happen with the changeover to summer formulation a couple mos ago. We use E10 here and the ECU wasnt happy this year. Whats the backpressure limit for plugged exhaust? 3 psi? is this cat #2 or the pipe between them? Thanx guys!

^^ 8/80 Is emission warranty for ALL toyota vehicles. if your exhaust smells take it in to get fixed. the TSB for the 2007 liftback gives a completely different pipe part number than what came from factory.....

Did you ever see a catalyst efficiency code?

Did you ever see a catalyst efficiency code? No MIL and I dont have a scan gauge to check MODE6 for fuel trim or cat eff or ?? I could not duplicate smell on the way to the dealer yesterday. So, I am going to try and run a few tanks of completely different gasoline and see if it was a fuel formulation issue. Trying Tier1 shell 87 with nitrogen in the detergent package.( i guess the new detergent was to address issues with DI engines and valve coking, etc.) I finally found a Shell dealer that didnt take midnight deliveries of "Freddies Stinky Gas" that ruins the whole premise of Tier1 fuel quality.

I need to try Shell again. I got a free prepaid Shell card from my Discover card rewards and the Yaris sure felt peppy on their gas.

It ended up being the Federated/hastings 413 filter. must have been f-ing with the vvti. Who woulda thunk it would skunk up the works so bad. I had a std NAPA jobber filter around, swaped that in, tosssed in a cup of Beef fat oil ( G.E.T. G-oil Ester green bio oil) and all was back to normal.
