So, Here is my new Bucket seats installed. It's my secret project I've been working on this month.
Here it is in all its glory,
ChargeSpeed Sport Bucket Seats (Everyone has Brides or Sparcos, But not ChargeSpeed! DIRECTLY FROM OSAKA! If you got the dough for recaro that's awesome seats but I don't think a grand for a seat is worth it on a yaris....maybe on my next car ;))

It's latched to the eyebolt where the Torque Screw would go. I had to buy new Eye bolts for it. Yea Thats just picture yesterday when It was all messy I gotta clean it out today.

it looks like the harness angle is too low. your at risk of neck injury if you get in an accident. other than that...very nice setup! how did u use the stock rails?

ok good. 45-90 degree is key :)

I pulled off the rail from the stock seats. Wasn't hard just a bunch of bolts. I reused the bolts to attach the L brackets on to the rail again.
Can a seat like this be used with the normal seat belt?
gwasabi
05-13-2009, 08:50 PM
YES! I actually still have my stock seatbelts in JUST incase I ever need to use em

i wouldnt run harnesses if i didnt have a roll cage definitly not safe at all and probably not legal at all

05-13-2009, 11:42 PM
you do not need a cage to run harnesses
as long as there mounted 90 or 45 he will be fine
mikenacarato
05-13-2009, 11:50 PM
harness bar at least is recommended though. what ever happened with those?

Lol, I like The stock passenger seat thing. It's more fun for passenger's when they're wooshing around. hahahaha
and Yea It's not the safest setup but it's all g. It works for me

45 is WAY too steep.

That looks completely unnecessary. Add about 200 hp and a full race chassis before trying this again. Oh yeah, don't mount it like that again.

whether or not it's necessary on a yaris is not the point. to add speed, add lightness...
but i will agree.. with those brackets, even a small collision will cause those spindly little elbow brackets to cave in, compress and probably imbed themselves in an appendage or two.
dude, at least weld some gussets onto them.

Eventually I plan on Welding a bar in between the front and back Brackets but this is good for now. I don't plan on racing anyone anyway and I don't have enough horsepowers to where the seats and harness will be necessary. It's just for looks for now lol
as far as lightness goes, the seat is WAY lighter than the stock ones. maybe half the weight of the stock.

with the little amount of money and all the time you took or will take the perfect them, you may as well get some wedge engineering brackets.

if it's just for looks, you should make those brackets LOOK less like they came from a roofing supply store then ;)

Well lets see.....
wedge engineering 200-300 bucks 20 min install
Bride 200-300 bucks 20 min install
Homemade stuff? 18 bucks 30 min install. I don't see me spending anymore than another 30 min plus about another 15 bucks to perfect them.
Whos gonna look under the seat anyway?! They'll look through the windows and be like damn that's a nice seat lol
It's just for looks NOW. I'll eventually make it safer later and honestly, I've seen the brackets they make for the seats. They LOOK better with better finish and all but they are actually just the same thing. A big piece of steel and bent to put the seats into where they need to be. It's the same thickness and everything. That's how I got the idea to go with a L bracket lol

i did an oil change last week,
figured out that if i didn't put any oil back in, it saved me over $16! i mean, who looks in the engine? they'll just see my car and say WOW!
so it saved me time, i only had to drain the oil that was IN the car out, and replace the plug.
yeah, i know it's not safe, but for now i'm sure it'll be just fine.
thoughts?

Wow...
I guess if you're not racing you don't need crash protection.

Not having a bracket wont throw a CEL lol
Well if your racing someone you'd need better crash protection than if your not
