After having my rear seats out of my car for many months, I became annoyed with the eye sore that had become my trunk. When I removed the seats, I also removed the plastic trunk compartments and the spare tire. The other day I removed all three rear seatbelts, I couldn't believe how much they weighed! Yesterday I removed all of the plastic panels in the rear of the car, five in total, cleaned them, and cleaned the bare metal parts of the trunk and rear walls. Today, I measured, cut, and glued trunk lining carpet down where the bare metal was and made sure to apply carpet partly behind where all the paneling goes. Finally I put the panels back on and voila, it almost looks meant to be. Enjoy the pictures as I have an obsessive compulsive order and tend to take way too many whenever I mess with the car. The first several pictures are before shots. Also, the carpet appears to be "grey" in the pictures, it's darker but my camera flash picked up the new carpet more since these pics were taken in the dark.

That's a really good look...good job. This should help with road noise also, right?

I had my rear seats out the second day I had my Yaris :D
I went a different approach and covered the entire rear of the car with carpet. I'll post pics once I make "version 2" of the carpet.

Thank you for the comments. Yes, I would have liked to replace the rear speakers but I just wanted to take care of the carpeting for this week...speakers to come someday. Yes, it is pretty loud without anything back there and I'm guessing the carpeting should help a little but probably not much, it's very thin material. This was a quick, cheap, and easy mod guys, I'd like to see more people finish off their trunks.

you know Andy, that's a good idea. since the seats will never go back in, and the belts are gone, this would be a decent buy. thanks

not really, i don't usually drive with it in since my in town trips are very short. i only carry a spare when i make distance trips.

That looks great. I've been wanting to remove my back seat but have been reluctant since I didn't want to turn a 2 year old car into an eyesore. Your job looks fantastic.

Thank you, it turned out pretty decent. I was actually going to cut a piece of carpet large enough to fit all the way behind the front seats, to make it look completely uniform, but this will work nicely for now.
