I think a Tanabe exhaust would be nice, but how would it look because there is no cutout on the rear bumper for a muffler.

no cut out for a tail pipe is nice, then just a simple downpipe, and no need to see the tailpipe atall :) that is my opinion anyways, might be the minority, but i dont care :P

i invested 6 k$ on my echo and planning to do the same on my yaris sedan!!
Actually they have started RnD already,I called them today(yesterday),the guy said they are doing some mockups already, the final design will need to be approved, but he said,"I cant see why it will not be approved",so we should see somthing soon.

I can't wait.
Hey,I just got off the phone with Tanabe,They said they will actually start RnD this month, they need someone that lives in the California area to lend them a car,I dont know for how long, but Im guessing that person gets the very first Yaris sedan Tanabe exhuast for free,I dont know what model the exhaust will be either. The guy said someone from Tanabe will be on this site to give all the details, when car is needed, contact #/email and that stuff....Lets just hope its soon.  :drinking: :smoking: :burnrubber:

Our engineers will be arriving this month, and we are monitoring this thread. Southern California owners are recommended to contact us via email! Please send email to info@tanabe-usa.com
For reference, this is the axle-back that we currently offer for the hatchback.

If the sedan exhaust looks anything like that I will have no choice but to purchase one...
Ohya,Mr. Tanabe USA,tell your engineers to make it long enough so that it dosnt burn the Sedan S type's bumper,it sticks out about an inch more then the regular Sedan.I own the regular Sedan, but I would like to see the exhaust more anyway.Ohya tell them to make sure it dosnt sit any lower then the shock muffler,my car is lowerd 1.75 inches, and I scrub the muff. when I pull into my drive way, which is made really weird.

Good point defending the fellow S owners. I'm new to Yarisworld and would love this idea if it fit nicely on my S. If not, there is always the custom cat-back system to make the exhaust fit the way I want. Everything that eco said is all that is motivating my decision about a ready made cat-back.
Although, I would prefer the Concept G on my S Sedan. If the Medalion Touring does get released soon for the sedan, I will have to see if I really want to get that. I like the muffler on the immediate backend of the exhaust rather then a slightly more towards the axle with a extention and a tip. Or maybe it is the oval muffler canister design. Well whatever it is, I'd prefer Concept G rather then the regular Medalion Touring.
I wish someone would come out with a full exhaust system, this peice by peice can be expensive, but I am planning on gettind in on the Megan header group buy.

I'd go for that too! A header would be next on my list after an exhaust system.

If I ever, I would replace the header and exhaust sys at the same time... It'd add something like 10hp.

Bring On the exhaust!!!!
Getting a custom exhaust done once i get my headers. Since the stock pipe is 1 piece stated from another post, the place where Im getting it said they are gonna cut out the cat converter out so it can be reused, and make a whole new catback system that will bolt right on. the muffler is gonna be bolted on too if it ever breaks. they said they can do 2.25". price is around $300 excluding price of muffler.
If its going to be a cat back, then why are they cutting out the cat. sysatem.
its gonna attach to the new headers. bigger piping too.

If anyone is in the Bay Area, CA we can make one up for you. Our welder does pipes for Dinan BMW's race and track cars. It's not cheap, but he said if he can parlay it into several, it might be $400. Back pressure tested, sound tuned, etc. He's the best... We just need an exhaust for a week and a car to fit it on for one day.
We have 2 Hatchbacks... so we ours won't work on yours. (when we get them made).
ZPI also has a great exhaust on sale... althought I've heard of mounting issues in the past?

A few quick pics.
Hopefully these will help.
And if I had a say in the exhaust design I would vote for something that increases flow, looks tasteful and has a nice low tone that isn't annoying.
