Hi everyone,
I just have a question concerning registration and insurance for the 2007 insurance. I'll be getting my Yaris very soon and it's a 2007 model and I just want to know if the vehicle is made in 2006 but sold as a 2007 model does that mean that I have to buy insurance for the vehicle as a 2006 model? My insurance company said that they don't even have 2007 vehicle quotas out yet because it is still too early. And also do I have to register the vehicle as a 2006 model as well because it is made in 2006 but the model it is sold as is a 2007. To my knowledge I believe it is illegal to register your car under a different year than it's model number, but I'am not too sure. If anyone has any knowledge about this situation please reply.

Also, I would like to know if anyone has gotten a 2007 Yaris already and how did they register their Yaris.

Hmmm .... its time to find a new insurance broker. A 2007 is a 2007 and is registered as a 2007. If the dont have the rates for a 2007 then they need to calculate it in a hurry, as the vehicle already exists and is now on the road. At our dealership we received 12 of them on Friday and some have been delievered already. The 10th digit of the serial number of the vehicle determines the year and I am sure you will find it to be a 7 - for 2007. This can not be changed

My advice - find a broker that knows what they are doing :)

Which dealership do you work at in Calgary? Did you receive 12 2007 Yaris on friday or 12 2007 vehicles? My friend there is still waiting for his, the dealership hasn't called him yet. He ordered his at Country Hills Toyota, and they said his vehicle is expected to arrrive on March 14th.

My Yaris is 07 and I bought insurance from Meloche Molex, no problem at all, they have 07. However, when I register at registration, they have to go with manual process as their system don't have 07 yet.

ICBC put the '07s into their system last week. I got my car on the 15th and everything went smoothly in terms of insurance and registration. You should be ok to get a quote for your '07 Yaris.

You fellow members in Alberta are fortunate because you can choose your insurance company. We in BC can only choose ICBC for basic insurance, the only one available.

why?

Ouch. Sounds like our insurance in Ma, except while there are seperate companies the state tells them all what they must charge.

You know friend, here in BC, we hear a lot of arguments from time to time about which system is better, free competition or de facto monopoly. So far, de facto monopoly has been prevailing here. I would personally like to see more competition.

why?
03-25-2006, 06:34 PM
Indeed. We know our insurance rates are artificially higher than those in the other 48 states because insurance companies cannot penalize bad drivers, and they cannot refuse to cover anyone. Not to mention you can't buy a car without insurance.

So all the good drivers end up paying for the horrid ones.

Thanks for the response and insight. Quite similar here. Just cannot change that at the moment.

why?

We've been trying, but the corruption and stupidity of Ma democrats make it very hard.
