Have an Cold Air Intake question...

Hi to everybody! I bought a brand new TRD Cold Air Intake.

First, I installed it with my neighbor and removed the battery negative pole during installation.
2nd, after installation, I turn on the car for 20 minutes and ran the car (like 60 miles per hour).
The third day, the check engine advise is on. :frown:


I repeat the steps but in the second day turn on again the check engine advise.

I verified the temperature sensor and it's ok.


What do you recommend me?

Same thing happened to me. The light should go away in a day or so. I think its just the computer has to adapt to the new intake.

Now, the check engine advise appear and dissapear, it depends if I go slow or fast. If I go fast, check engine light appears.

make sure the maf sensor is seated and sealed properly. most common cause of CEL when changing the intake.

yep check your connections to make sure the clamps are tight and the MAF is secure and sealed.

ya....get some thin foam and cut to make a seal around the sensor. that will seal it and keep water out as well.

also, you have to realize that you're pullin much more air and a sensitive sensor may be on the high end of the scale any way...so you may have to just give it a while and let the ecu adjust.

another thing is...it takes about 1500 miles before the ecu will learn your driving habits so give it some time...a couple tanks of gas at least. unless you're gettin like 10 miles per gallon. then you have a problem

make sure everything is tightly secure. Give the intake a good pull where the hose clamps are put, it should be very tight, no movement what so ever.

I have a f5 intake, and never had a cel thrown at me, been over a week of having it, and driving 300+ miles already on top of it...
