How do you guys install seat covers that require slipping a piece through the seat crease? I've looked at some seat covers and most if not all require you to slip a piece of the cover through the gap between the seat cusion and the backrest.

I dunno about you guys, but in my Yaris, this gap or crease between the backrest and cushion is covered on the backside (side facing the back seats) of my front driver and passenger seats.

If you have side curtain airbags, seat covers are a bad idea...

I have the same dilemma- I just bought new front seat covers, and of course the covers themselves require you to slip that middle part through the seat. My seat underneath is covered as well (just like most if not all Yaris do). I figured it wouldn't make much of a difference if i just left the middle part as is and not slipping it through the seat since i can't hook it from the bottom part. So far it's been fine, no problems. But now i hear that the bottom under cover can be removed (unhooked).. i haven't tried yet, but i will later.

i bought front seat covers and what i did was moved the back part of the seat always reclined and that gave enough leway with the fabric to slip it threw and hook it up

I've had a chat to some of the people at Autobarn and they said that there aren't many seat covers designed for the yaris since it's still relatively new. So you can either live with not tucking in the bottom for universal fits or you can get customised seat covers which will fit the yaris but of course that'll be more expensive. I'm too

There is one more option: you could get those throw-over seat covers like the snap-on ones the mechanics use. Personally I don't think they suit the yaris, they're more for sport cars.

just a note the side curtain airbags are in the plastic cover, above the front door windows...

now seat mounted airbags are different, and yes seat cover will screw them up when needed.

it will un hook.

How do you unhook them?

I followed the cover and it connects to a piece of elastic that connects to a metal bar at the front of the seat. The elastic hooks in a V shape. If you feel the bottom you'll know what I mean but then again I have a 2007 YRS Austrlian yaris and not sure if there might be differences between the overseas models.

..yea, i think the US model differs from the Euro and Asian models. ...I only wish they has the RS version here! haha

Actually I've found that you can unhook the bottom of the seat cover. There should be a piece of elastic connecting to the bottom of the current seat cover. Just follow them to the front of the seat and you'll be able to unhook them.
