Got back from my trip a couple of days ago and finally got to work on my 09 3dr. These are my first 2 upgrades of many to come: Autometer Tach and Scangauge 2.
I mounted the tachometer to the pillar after scratching my head a million times trying to come up with a way to mount it to the steering column cover. The install took me about 30 minutes with decent T-taps and I'm very happy with the results! I love that Toyota interiors are so easy to take apart and rebuild. ***notes: 10K RPM is overkill for a Yaris - 09 has different wiring color than prior years - I imagined the curtain air bags bursting on me and breaking my neck when removing the pillar cover at least 10 times***

The ScanGauge II was even faster as it just plugs into the OBD2 port. I mounted it above my rearview mirror to keep it out of the way. I ran the cable under the dash, up the pillar, and it is tucked away in the headliner. I think I will eventually drill and place a nicer looking grommet that I can run the cable through.

Thanks for looking!:smoking:

did you use that bracket for sale to mount that up there? Or do it your own way? either way, closeups would be cool.

Very nice install all around.

Thanks! I figure of all gauges that I want to get, this is the one that I'll look at the least so I placed it out of the way.

Thanks! I used the included velcro strips to place it on there so I can easily remove it and use the ScanGauge in our other car. I'll try to add some close-ups soon.

Nice! I have the same tachometer.

Same location and everything! It's like looking into my own car!

Another thread resurrection?!

Look up Clazzio Seat Covers. MicroImage also sells them. Best fit, best seat covers period.

Looking to install a tach in the same place. What mounting hardware did you use? T-taps (not sure what these are)?

Thanks, usually kept in stock.

T-taps (not sure what these are)?

Small plastic folding tap with a little metal spike in it, clips onto an existing wire to "tap" into it. Easier and faster than splicing/soldering/shrink wrapping connections.
