the passenger window switch on the drivers side stopped working today, it stayed in place but it was just loose and wouldnt control the window, then it caught fire tonight on my way home. I first noticed the burning smell and then a bunch of smoke started coming out of the window switch and then i saw a flame under the switch.
So now my passenger window doesnt work at all and my car smells like burnt plastic.

what do you guys think caused it and will the dealer fix this for me?,
its an '07 hatch

If the power windows were factory-installed, you should be covered. If you've done some mods, you may not be.

There was a thread a while back about the dashboard in a Yaris catching fire (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10233), you may want to read that to see how the dealership handled it.

And I am digging your avatar!

you should've let the car burn to hell, and let insurance write it off. :(

anyways, you should've went to the dealer right away when it stopped working.

Sounds like the switch got stuck in a constant on position till it overloaded the circuit with the constant draw. The heat somehow did not pop a fuse and got to the point it melted the plastic mostuire barrier. I would take it to the dealer and explain everything that happend and have them replace it.

obviously electrical.... probably a short, tho fuses should've popped.

Things can short for many reasons.
