Does anyone know where I can buy or make a tent for my car? My driveway is a repository of bird poop and grapes from the nearby tree.

A woman who rents from me bought one of those kiosks and a real high wind got under it and lifted it into the air like a kite. It was strange, really strange.

If you are in a residential area and are thinking of putting up a car shelter you may want to run it by your zoning commision first as a lot of places dont allow them.

You are correct, but screw that. My property, my rules. Most city zoning laws are unconstitutional.

I actually saw one for $30 in walmart. 9' x 9' Is that too small for a Yaris? I would like to get the smallest possible, as to not look bulging high on my front yard.

Would a walmart camping tent really be considered a new property?

I was looking at those, but thinking that they were really big for a Yaris. Thank you for the link though. I don't really need a whole full protection....just enough to prevent bird poop and grapes from hitting the car.

I have seen ahigh wind blow one of those things around , it could go very easily, support pipes and all, blow into your car. Much worse thn bird poop or grapes. How about a cloth car cover that wraps around you Yaris, though they are a pain getting on and off.

I hear ya. One guy down the street built himself a custom made shelter, but he's got it cemented to his driveway. I guess no matter how many hooks you use, when it's on grass and mud, it just might not hold, eh? Unless, I suppose I find some kind of heavy rocks to keep them in place.

here are somemade out of steel bon tubing that are anchored in concete with a steel or aluminum roofs screwed on that seem to fair the weather pretty well too. they are not really cheap though, like $800-$1000 installed and they could have gone up since that price. 4x8 sheets of oriented strand board and 2x4s are cheap as dirt right now, if you've got carpentry skills, and can seek it past the code nazis.

That may be, but they have powers. Such as fines. Some home owner associations have the power to evict!

In all, most deed restrictions are there to prevent neighborhoods from getting all ghetto on ya. Because as we know, there is going to be that one idiot that lets his grass grow like the wilderness, let the broken down car rust on the driveway, and let the fence rot to twigs. And if he is your neighbor, then not only does his property value go down, but so does yours. The new buyer (if you were to sell) would be turned away if they saw that house on your street.

So in short, its better to be safe than sorry. Who knows, you might even find a loophole.
