most of you that are using the 1ZZ throttle body already realize there are two issues which could be potentially not allowing the TB to achieve it's maximum potential.

The first is the intake manifold does not match the throttle body and the intake s most people are using are slightly too small. My measurements show the old intake tubing diameter to be 2.25"(I am using a Bomz) and the new intake inner diameter is just about 2.5".

I know there are those who are stating a slightly larger intake will throw a cell. Is there anyway around this such as a different sensor - lets say from a Matrix or a Corolla just like the throttle body chip swap.

It is not that big of an increase in diameter but it may yield some gains and should be relatively easy to fabricate.

What do you guys think? Is a sensor swap even possible? Would it make a difference? If it does lean out, how about just adding some bigger 1ZZ injectors. Mixing and matching parts is great. Makes me feel like Dr. Frankenstein or the weird doctor from Robot Chicken

robot chicken, lol. I think you cannot just swap sensors if you mean the MAF sensor. Your ECU wouldn't know what to do with the signal. Probably won't be the same size either, so you'd be custom fabricating just to find out if it works.

Port match the intake mani first, it's easier and probably will have a positive effect.
