thinking about traveling italy.

Im 20 and was thinking about flying to venice, bullet training to rome, then to napoli, then ferry to palermo, then flying home. june 2007, about 3 week trip. I figure about 2k for hostels and flights and transportation. plus a grand for spending cash. any thoughts? certain cities i should stay in longer than others? i read that napoli is a shithole, but i really wanna see pompeii so i gotta stop by there and get a *pizza*

lol, I'd suggest checking out one of those rotary clubs in your area and seeing on if they have any lit. on places to see. Also screw staying at hotels, either pack a tent or even better google hostels and get a room for $20 a night (they have them all over the us, but I'm betting 5-10x more so in europe...
