Hello, i did a search for "sun shade" to find out if anyone has already discussed the topic of finding custom fit sunshades for the Yaris LB, but came back empty handed for some reason.

Also, I just came back from Longs and Kragen and, to my surprise, their standard sun shades doesn't fit the Yaris. I then went to the dealership, and they offer something for about $40, which doesn't even have a Yaris logo on it.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I could have sworn I saw sun shades being discussed a few months ago but I can't find the thread now. :iono:

Thanks to all.

OK, I will, thanks! I found one on e-bay earlier, but I don't know.

covercraftI agree. I just ordered one from Covercraft (UVS100) and it fits perfectly. Yes, it cost $40, but it is totally worth it, imo. Fit and finish is great.

They only show one for the Yaris sedan.

No love for the liftback, uh? :frown::wink:

Do these covers fit both the liftback and the sedan?

My Toyota dealer's parts department had custom fit sun shades for most Toyota models including the Yaris LB and Sedan.

Do these covers fit both the liftback and the sedan?Yes. I called them and asked and ordered right over the phone to be sure. The fit is perfect.

Now the price for the Covercraft is like 69.95 or something close to $70 online (although I did find it on sale eventually, at AutoAnything for $50

http://www.autoanything.com/driving-accessories/60A1228A0A0.aspx

but I ended up ordering the one from Info Tech for about $35. That's the one Toyota dealerships and TRD are using right now. Looks like it was the best quality/price overall. We'll see :iono:

I'll let you know how it fits the liftback and if it makes a big difference. I'm sure it'll help. My poor little Yaris was baking out in the sun, you could have fried an egg on the dashboard! :frown:

:headbang:

I guess I better PM Etimago and let him know I already got one. Thanks everybody for the advice. Keep the ideas coming, though, in case someone comes after me with the same question.

My poor little Yaris was baking out in the sun, you could have fried an egg on the dashboard! I hear you....the Texas sun is merciless (I park at a mass transit station each day) and we seem to be going into triple digits this week. I have come to see a sun screen as a necessary accessory, and for me fit makes a huge difference...I was not willing to scrimp. That said, I'm certain good/better deals can be had out there....I just didn't want to take any chances (I bought two since I have two Yarises).

I bought one at my dealership. It fits perfectly and it sure keeps the dash and steering wheel cooler. We've been having some 100 plus days this week.

By the way, that reminds me, does anybody else thinks the A/C in the Yaris is a bit weak when the heat gets over 90F or is it just my Yaris? Just curious.

I agree with your statement. There is a way to overcome this problem, I find that if you put in premium fuel the AC works better on hot days.

It was 94 degrees here in southern Michigan yesterday so I ran the air. It was only a short trip or two so that might have had a bearing on it. Felt like it was only cool, not cold! I got the car in Aug 08 and I thought it was weak then as well!!!

Here in Redding, it has been past 100 degrees for a few days now. I find that the A/C keeps up with even that high of a temperature. It may take a few minutes when you first get in the car and start it up, but it quickly cools the cabin down to a comfortable temp. I usually turn the fan on full blast and open the window and then when the coolness starts, close the window and turn the fan down to a 2. Works for me.

it was 108 here in phoenix

the air was cool, not cold

now i took my MR2 out (92) and the air still blows so cold that i had to turn it down

i think its just a small condenser cant keep up with the hot temps

Having a sun shade makes a big difference. I had an old red Stanza that the AC didn't get cold. I would leave work on a hot afternoon and it wouldn't blow cool air until it was almost 25 mins. Rather than paying to have the AC changed, I bought a sun shade. It worked. The AC started blowing cool air after two blocks and cold air after 10 mins.

If you prevent the interior from heating up, the AC doesn't have to work so hard.

Tinted windows help too.

I've ordered a shade, so that should be a big help. The Toyota dealership orders them from Info-Tech, and apparently there is a lifetime warranty on it. They're charging me about $35, which was cheaper than me ordering it directly. Will let you all know how it works out for me.

In the meantime, I have towels on the dash to prevent the sun from hitting it directly...can't wait for my shade!

We had temperatures in the 3 digits this WE, kind of unusual for this part of the Bay Area.
