my subs are nippy

I live in Michigan so it gets pretty cold here in the winter. Lately in the mornings and on cold days my subs don't use their full potential until maybe 20 minutes after using them. A friend of mine told me that the voice coils do not move as well when they are cold so just put the bass on high and let them warm up. Is there anything I can do to warm them up faster? I guess I could get a starter adn have them play in my driveway in the morning but that doesn't my neighbors wont appreciate that. Any help would be just peachy thanks.

My co-worker mentioned a similar problem or situation for him, I live in Minnesota and obviously it gets pretty cold here. For me personally I don't notice too much of a difference with my sub...unless its near 0 degrees but it rarely gets there. Even if I notice some difference when its cold it doesn't take long for it to "warm" up but that's just me. I don't know what you could do but if its not too bad when its cold and then "warms" up then I don't think you can do too much, maybe someone else will know. Good luck!:thumbsup:

you could always install a remote starter, and then just start it up 20mins before your ready...

Block heater... you'd blow hot air faster. That's about all you can do other than maybe ordering a custom North Face fleece sub box cover. :rolleyes:

i was j/king with above post...

but maybe you could get one of those small space heaters and modify it into your trunk hooked up to a switch and temp gage...plus if you got one with a fan mode, you could use it in the summer days to keep everything cool (assuming your amp is located near you subs)

laught all you want, but his issue is his trunk not getting heat and staying outside/near outside tempature . so what better way to fix that by adding a heating device to the trunk??

now hacking a space heater is, well yah. but whats your suggestion?

I remember seeing someplace that the sedan (maybe 3/5 to??) has an option for heating/cooling vents to be place under the front seats faceing rear... you could bust out the service manual and see if you could tap into the vent tubs and run a line back to your trunk.

but what ever you do, I would not suggest heating your sub box, as if the tempature is higher then the trunk temp you will get condensation on the sub box.

you could always call an car audio specialist near you and say "heres my prob" what are some options that you guys can do to fix this for me...
determine if its a valid fix, and just do it yourself.
