Dunno if it's possible, but if I get fog lights installed, can I change it so the fog lights are the DRLs instead of the main headlights?

What would be needed for this?

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question. I think if we did this, we could still have DRLs if we put HIDs in to replace our headlights.

I'm sorry, i didnt see where you goin where going with the question...*

couldnt you just re-route to drl "on" wires to go to the fogs, not the hls? I dont have the DRLs so I'm not sure how the wireing/box looks like....

I'll look the manual to see if the above can be done

Is this possible? Do you guys think it would be difficult to do this?

In Canada spec, the fog light can only be turn on when you have the headlight turned on. But of course you can re-route the wires to have a different setup. You just have to find the wire diagram to work with.

A DRL works off of a dual filliment bulb, aka -high/low single bulb. The bulb is sent a lower current to light up the low beam end, and if you notice, is actually dimmer then if you had your low beams on.

And?

Not trying to be rude. Just don't understand what you're saying or trying to get at. Does that mean you can't use fog lights as DRLs? I've seen some cars that do that.

i think what hes saying is the DRl regulates the power to the HLs so it would be sending a power signal to weak to power the fog lights, or if not then they would simply be "dull"

there is always a risk of ruiniung a device by running the wrong power to it, under/over voltage/wattage.

atleast to my understanding.

Why wouldn't you just remove the DRL relay and leave your fogs on????????

The signal shouldn't be too weak for fog bulbs, they are halogens, they'll light up. I think it can be done, it's just a matter of finding the right wires to swap around. It shouldn't matter that the headlights are Dual filament...

That's what I was thinking. The bulbs I'm looking at using for my fog lights are PIAA's Extreme White H11 bulbs. They're supposedly 55/65w just like the headlights.

I'm gonna be moving to northern Cali in about two months. I'm gonna get HIDs retrofitted, but don't want to just disable the DRLs so I was thinking the fog lights could be used as the DRLs by simply connecting them to that DRL relay or box that Chris07LB had instructions about disabling.

Anything can be done with a little R&D. Have I tried? NO. Will I try? NO.

I haven't been in this hell hole known as Las Vegas for very long. I hate this super dry heat so much. I also don't like living in one of the top 10 worst cities for car theft.

Can't wait 'til I move to the NW.
