Well my initial plan was to soak about 7 to 10k into the sedan, but I really need to get back on the road with a bike. I am torn between throwing the cash into the Yaris or buying a Honda VTX 1300. What to do, what to do...on the one hand it would be great to be on a bike that I truly own myself, on the other hand I love my Yaris. Trouble with the Yaris tho is that in the year that I have been gone it doesn't look like there has been much headway in support for our car...:iono:

What exactly are you looking for that you can't find for the yaris?

You will get a feeling with the bike that you will never achieve with the Yaris, sadly...I side with the bike.

Unfortunately due to family situations I do not have the ability to spearhead new things such as engine swaps, full blown front suspension replacements, etc. I do not have the resources to have my car taken and sitting in a shop for months on end. I will be the first to admit that I would follow a good implementation by someone that can show a proven platform however do not have the means to do it myself.

I may still get an exhaust for the car and possible do the throttle body move however I am leaning more toward the motorcycle at this point because of the aforementioned items.

The third option; save your money. The economy is sliding down hill. They talk about recovery and the auto industry, but..........it will not be immediate. Cash will be King.

I established long ago that I am strictly a 4-wheel kinda guy. Perhaps another type of hobby could be cultivated to absorb time and money....that's what I did.

No offense, but with the salary that I make I will be able to save just fine. When I come home from this current contract I will be debt free making six figures. Right now the cash is not a worry. It is not often that one gets the opportunity that I have so I am going to take advantage of it.

Get a bike. Hell, do what I did and get two. Get a Jeep as well, it's just as much fun as the bikes; and if those hobbies don't absorb your spare cash, then start buying guns because that's a hobby that'll suck money out of your wallet faster than an ex-wife!

Plus, how will the economy get any better if some of us don't put money into it? Consider it your civic duty to spend, it is the American thing to do!

I love my Yaris and have dumped some money into it, but it is mainly a means of transportation and the real money pits are the bikes, Jeep and guns...

Cheers! M2

p.s. Just a thought, since you are at Bagram are you eligible for any of the military sales? I know when it comes to motorcycles, that's mainly Harleys but since you were looking at the VTX1300 I figured you were a cruiser kind of guy!

I am pretty big into street bikes however I really want a bike that I can drive for 12 hours a day and go a couple thousand miles on without thinking about it. I also have my 82 Magna V45 however that is with my dad in Arizona right now. I plan on leaving it with him until he passes away....hopefully no time soon. In regards to being in Bagram, yes they do have the AAFES car place however they sell Harleys like you said...I am a Honda man when it comes to motorcycles through and through. The only exception would be an Indian.

You don't have to worry about inattentive idiots (read: cellphone users) hitting you nearly as much with the Yaris. Go Yaris.
