Hello everyone!
I wanted some opinions on this stereo that I'm looking at getting for my 09 Yaris Sedan.
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P4100DVD
Does anyone have this model installed already? Any better suggestions then this unit?
I've found this model for about $400 and it will display album art and play videos from your iPod. I'd really like a stereo that let me rate songs but it's going to break the deal for this model. I'm not sure if this deck will do that but if anyone knows of a deck that will please advise.
So far it looks like I'll need:
Silver Toyota Dash Trim p/n 55405-52640
Metra 95-8202 (gap filler)
Metra 70-1761 (Wire Harness)
Do I need to get the Metra 99-8216?? Is that where I get the mounting brackets from? Does this kit work for Double-DIN installs as well? Also even though I selected aYaris Sedan from Metra's web site it says this mounting kit is ONLY for Hatchbacks. Seems weird to list it under a sedan, maybe it's a typo.
Any help would be great, thank you in advance.

No one?
Here are some pics.

Your part list is correct. You don't need the 99-8216, just the 95-8202. You reuse the OEM radio's mounting brackets to mount the new HU.

That looks great. Do they have the same model with navigation? If it's only $100 or so extra I would go for that.

It looks like I would have to go up to the AVIC-Z110BT unit in order to get GPS and a 7" screen which a MSRP of $1799.99! :eyebulge:
I could go with a AVIC-X710BT which has GPS but it's only a 5.8" screen and it's MSRP is $999.99
I'm not worried about GPS I'll either use my Android phone in my ProClips mount or get a separate GPS unit.

Wow. That is expensive. Not worth paying 1,799.99.. No way..

It looks like I could get the AVIC-X710BT for $899.99 but I would much rather save the $500, not get GPS, and have a bigger screen.

OK, so I need:
Silver Toyota Dash Trim p/n 55405-52640
Metra Gap Filler 95-8202
I thought that I would need a Toyota to Pioneer wiring adapter so that I don't have to splice up the Toyota plug into the Pioneer. Any ideas on what that part number might be and if I need it? Are there any other parts that you guys can think of that I'll need?
Thanks for the help.

I used the same Metra kit to install my double-din radio. I also went to crappy tire (Canadian Tire, pep-boys or something similar in the US will probably carry them) and got the Toyota wiring harness kit and soldered it together with the Pioneer one.
Pic of the stereo installed (this is an '05 Echo hatch):

I think I'll also need a Auto Zone #19273 Duralast Relay (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsShelf.jsp?categoryDisplayName=Electrical+%26+ Lighting&fromType=parts&fromString=search&parentId=cat30065¤tPage=1&filterByKeyWord=19273+&isSearchByPartNumber=true&navValue=15700287&categoryNValue=15799999&fromWhere=&itemId=prod61787&displayName=Relay+-+Antenna&searchText=19273+&_requestid=1931909) or a similar relay in order to bypass the safety features for full iPod control while I'm driving.

I started watching the video and was thinking why the heck isn't he just grounding the ebrake wire. Then, at the very end he mentions the need for that HU to see the ebrake input toggle, instead of just being permanently grounded.

I'd like to get rid of all the ugly silver trim pieces and have my interior look like this. I'm hoping that the S version sedans come with black trim like the VIOS.

Hey CTScott!
Since you have access to the catalog are there any black versions of the silver panels? What model do they come with stock?
I've listed the part number for the silver version that you had given out before.
Panel Sub-Assy, Instrument Cluster Finish, Center, Silver
It's part number is: 55405-52790

The S trim part number for the radio is: 55405-52780. The EPC doesn't mention the color of it, but the 09 brochure shows the S sedan as having "dark charcoal" trim. The part number for the S A/C controls trim piece is: 55406-52260

The Pioneer AVH-P4100 DVD is the exact model I plan on buying... except it's going in my Expedition not the Yaris... I hate Ipods, but I'm a big supporter of flash drives and this one fits the bill.

Once again thank you for the part numbers. I'm getting my stereo soon and I'll order up the Sedan S version trim piece for around the stereo 55405-52780. If it's not silver I'll order up the match A/C panel and I'm sure that I'll be looking for the 4 door panel trim pieces that are silver
Thank you for all the help!

Yeah, there's a few places around that have it for real cheap. One E-bay seller had it for 399.99 shipped, another internet vendor has it for $407. I went with a vendor that I have used many times before and grabbed it for $418. There are still online stores selling it for well over $550... totally stupid IMO.

Indeed...it is.
If you care to remember, this April watch the build posts on my little Yaris. I sincerely think you're going to be interested.

The reason you're not seeing it now...well, you've seen my location. I'm a little busy.

All it needed was the bracket kit for mounting and wiring harness... I got them from Crutchfield because the price was competitive and it comes with really good install instructions for a whole system, not just the head unit...
Looking up the info on a 2000 Expedition, it can fit an E (Euro-DIN 2" opening), S (3" opening" or U (3" opening) head unit. The 4100DVD is a DD (Double-DIN 4" opening) and won't fit. Maybe you could look into the AVH-P5000DVD or AVH-P5100DVD models...

I spoke with the audio specialist at best buy, he told me that if I get any of the following kit: Scosche FD1327B, FD1300B, or Metra 95-5818 that it would fit.
Can anyone verify this information??

The first 2 kits are for installing a single-DIN radio in an oversized opening. Note oversized is between a single-DIN and a double-DIN opening. The 3rd kit will probably work, but because Ford didn't go to a true double-DIN opening until 2004, I think, any double-DIN stereo you try to install will require you to trim a good portion of your dash opening to fit...

I have a question, I been looking at a simular setup, my sedan came with the integrated radio that the radio and the trip are mounted together. Now I purchased the trim piece from toyota that match the opening that allowed the stock stereo which I believe came in the base model 07 yaris's which was a double din.
Now I had a single din sony stereo in there with a metra mounting kit that had the proper extension to go to the 4 screw homes. But now if I am looking to go to a double din, the guy at best buy said I need to order the whole toyota mounting for there double din, cause they do not make a double din mounting kit, it is just the filler pieces, and my setup I have no standard mounting points for a radio. What do I need to get from where to put in a double din nav in a yaris that came with the integrated radio?
I thought maybe looking back at the integrated radio I pulled out there would be comething I could carry over, but the radio is incased to the front panel in such a way nothing could carry over to mounting back in that area of the car.
Please help, im trying to weight if its gonna cost too much to make it happen, I did not realize that if I went with the sport model stereo that I may have a problem someday.

I've been reading these posts and have found them very helpful for finding the necessary parts. Now I have started taking apart my car and I've gotten to the wire harness, but now I am stuck. Here's my stats:
2008 Yaris Sedan (integrated car stereo)
Pioneer x710bt
Metra 70-1761
I am at the point where I am soldering the metra wires to the pioneer plug harness, but there are colors that do not match. Please, if anyone has the full install instructions (crutchfield perhaps?), it would be greatly appreciated. I'm fairly electronics savy, but this is my first car stereo install and without any instructions I'm in way over my head.
Best,
frank
