Howdy folks,

It's that time again. We need to figure out what we're doing and where we're doing it this month. Let's pick somewhere safe please so I don't have to worry about getting side-swiped by any errant Cadillacs.

July 4th & 5th:
- 4th: Obviously a big party weekend and short notice so it might not work well.
- 5th: http://www.autocross.com/er/equiperapide/modules/autocrossevents/index.php?op=show&id=18 - Equipe Rapide Challenge Cup #4 Mineral Wells Air Park - Mineral Wells, TX (autocross). I'm going to try and make it out there but it depends on if I have my car or a rental. I believe LazerDot is going to be there and I think LRR is going as well but I don't know for sure.

July 11th & 12th: No holidays this weekend.
- 11th: open
- 12th: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?p=341725#post341725 - Gulf Greyhound Park Drift Event. I'm going, LRR is going and everyone else is invited. More info at http://fabricatedmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=934.0

July 18th & 19th: No holidays this weekend.

July 25th & 26th: No holidays this weekend.
- 25th: Open
- 26th: http://www.autocross.com/er/equiperapide/modules/autocrossevents/index.php?op=show&id=19 - Equipe Rapide Challenge Cup #5 - Pennington Field - Bedford, TX (autocross). I'm should be going to this but I'm not certain yet.

How about the 26th? I'll be at the AX anyway and maybe more will join in. There are plenty of places around to grab some food later in the afternoon. I'm hoping you and LRR will do the AX too...

I already told my employer (AKA grandma and grandpa) that I will not be here for the 26th I will be in the DFW area that weekend (for the auto-x). I will be racing for sure this weekend at mineral wells. Hopfully others will come race or just come hang out and watch. I believe I saw in the June Yaris Yak user name gokart ride said he lived in Arlington maybe he will see this and come even though its pretty far out possible even wildmongoose might come so we can see a 5 door up close?

you don't need to be social, just bring food money... Try to make it, AX is fun.

SaerinRhoe

I'm coming to the AX on the 5th, either with my car or a rental. If I have my car then I'll race but I'll have to see how comfortable I am with racing if I get a rental. I'll be there for the 16th as well. I'll be bringing a friend with me, a case of water, ice and a cooler. The water's free for us to stay cool and hydrated.

And so just to recount, the confirmed attendees for the 26th are:
Lazerdot
LittleRedRocket
SaerinRhoe (myself)

Gokartride? Can we count you in?

So, in relation to get-togethers...what quadrants of the Metromess does everybody hail from???

I live just north of Don Davis Toyota in Arlington...north of Six Flags and the Ballpark. I dine (every day...sometimes more) at Estella's...Arkansas Lane in Arlington. Great mexican food, tacos. I ride the mighty Trinity Railway Express into downtown Dallas each day and work in the FountainPlace building (the glass one w/ the big pointed roof). Unfortunately, I am sans Yaris when I am at the office!!!

lilredrocket
07-06-2009, 12:17 AM
I live just south of Fort Worth but now I am working for my grandparents between Houston and San An. Just North of I-10. If y'all want me to attend the next Yaris Yak it will defineatly have to be the weekend of the 25th-26th when I'm back in town.

So far, no rental yet and the insurance company has yet to do anything except tell me that they're trying to contact their insured. They did confirm that the driver is covered on the insurance policy so that's good.

I'm going to call them when I go on lunch and get some info from them. I'm not happy with how long this is taking.

S.R.

Lazerdot
07-08-2009, 06:44 AM
Thats to bad. Makes me wonder which company the other driver is with. What would they do if you couldn't drive the car?

Keep us posted.

The YY on the 26th will hopefully bring in a couple new folks. Hopefully we'll get a good turn out for the AX. You guys with your noisy exhaust might get some extra notice...:burnrubber:

@gokart... I live in Garland and work in Plano.

The owner of the other car has their insurance through Fred Loya. An appraiser called me today and made an appointment with me to have their appraisal rep come out and look at the car. They didn't know what time they'd be out to my work but supposedly their coming.

I called the adjuster back and asked if this meant that they'd talked to the kid who was driving the car and she said that they haven't. She told me that the person she talked to didn't know where the kid was and they couldn't provide any contact info for the kid.

Half the time this sounds like it's going to be a scam because the adjuster keeps telling me "if you aren't happy with how long this is taking then you can file it on your own insurance and we'll settle with them". I keep refusing that and I'm about ready to call an attorney to see if there's anything we can do to get their attention and take things more seriously.

Fred Loya Ins. still has not accepted liability for the accident though so who knows what will happen.

I'm still driving ..:: Bulls Eye ::.. though, no rental.

S.R.

Lazerdot
07-08-2009, 03:43 PM
Checked out Fred Loya insurance. If you don't get some movement, I'll be posting to his web page asking him why, and if his company is trying to create a cost for another insurance group. Supposedly he has been in business since 1972 or 1974. But they need to know we have world wide ability to show exactly how well they do or don't. This should be a no brainer since the other driver admitted fault to the police.

Keep us posted, and consider posting the issue in another section as very few get to see whats happening on the SW only forum.

I found out yesterday that my claim went to the fraud investigation unit because the other driver's family has been involved in several wrecks in the last couple of months so they're being investigated.

Of course this doesn't help get it taken care of faster but we'll have to see what happens next.

Jeff,

What does the fraud part have to do with the Insurance company not evaluating the damage? Have they given you any indication of when they will start that process?

lilredrocket
07-13-2009, 12:47 AM
I just installed my NST U-Drive Pully I like it. Revs up just a little faster. Might be able to beat Lazerdot in a straight on race now. HAHA.

Haha. Maybe. Ok its a little short notice but how about a bbq this weekend at my house? There will be plenty of food just ask Lazerdot and SearinRhoe. Gokartride and wildmongoose I would like for you both to come. So just let me know if you want to come either post up or pm me doesn't matter!

SaerinRhoe
07-14-2009, 02:33 PM
LazerDot, my guess is that the Fred Loya Insurance is using the fraud investigation process to delay putting out the money for the repair and to get me to have it fixed through my insurance. I'm going to call them on my lunch and try to get some more info from them. I'm getting tired of them dragging their feet on this.

LRR, I'll be there, with a friend who's a girl but she's not my girl friend. She's just a girl, who's a friend. That's all. Date and time please?

I have a pool and kids are more than welcome to come and swim (swimsuits and towels recommended sorry family place). My girlfriends daughter will be here and our neighbors and their two kids will be also. SearinRhoe said he would bring his son but he is going to be off at church camp.

Wow!

That was an excellent BBQ. Thank you LRR, The Missus and The Little Mermaid for some good food and some good laughs.

I'll post pics of the monster truck rally tomorrow after I resize them and get them uploaded to a proper hosting site. Traffic wasn't too bad getting out of the speedway either. I'll apologize now because a lot of them will be blurry but y'all will get the gist of it I think.

Be safe,

SaerinRhoe
07-20-2009, 01:24 AM
I definitely had fun :) and I'm planning on being at the auto-x next weekend. By the way LRR, did you get my text at like... 1am? I thought you might enjoy seeing how far I actually went on that tank.

Here's a link to the Monster Truck show if anyone's interested: http://picasaweb.google.com/SaerinRhoe/07182009MonsterTrucksAtTMS# Also, let me apologize now for the pics. It's an older digital camera meant for still shots, not catching movement, and I'm not the best photographer by far. Some of these are blurred pretty bad.

Be safe and have a good week everyone,

I'll be roaming the streets of Arlington as usual making sure one more Yaris is out spreading cheer among the public!!!

lilredrocket
07-20-2009, 10:53 PM
If you say you live by the stadiums, you're actually not that far from the auto-x. Just so up and watch you don't have to race. What have you got to lose? Honestly! I dont mean to sound like a dick calling you out, but to me it doesn't sound like you have anything to do according to your post so why not?

SaerinRhoe
07-21-2009, 12:23 AM
The auto-x is free to attend.

If you want to race, the cost will either be $20 or $25 depending on if you're a member of the racing club. I'll be paying $25 to race.

It's located at Pennington Field which is at 1501 Central Drive, Bedford Texas 76022.

Here's a link to the auto-x website: http://www.autocross.com/er/equiperapide/modules/autocrossevents/index.php?op=show&id=19

There are plenty of trees and a huge grassy area along the north edge of the property which is right beside where the racing is done. Quite literally, it's about 60 feet from the racing area and is separated by a curbed median and a street along the north edge of the property.

There are plenty of fast food restaurants close by and the location is approx. 1 to 1 1/2 blocks south of the freeway. There are clean restrooms located on the property that, as far as I know, are available for use when the stadium is being used for sports practice.

It would be very nice to see more of our friends come out and watch. You certainly do not have to race if you come out. I've gone to 2 auto-x events at Pennington Field and everyone there, including the non-Yaris owners and drivers, are very friendly and welcoming.

Please show up if you can make the time to be there. Racing will probably get started at about 8:30am or 9:00am and go on as long as it takes to run the competing drivers through their laps.

It was fun for me when I went and it was just a couple of us there. It will be much more fun if more people can show up and support each other.

I will be bringing a large blue canopy for some shade on the parking lot where we park between races. I will also have a couple of folding chairs with me. I will also be bringing a cooler, ice and bottled water for anyone that needs something to drink while we're out there. I will also have some sunscreen if anyone needs it. If there is one thing that will be most important, please remember that it will be hot so you should take precautions to be comfortable. Bring a hat, bring sunscreen, bring something cold to drink, find some shade and enjoy the show.

Hope to see you all out there. Take care and have a good week,

S.R.

lilredrocket

Good post! Are you going to race this weekend? That is if you have "Bullseye" still and its not in the shop?

SaerinRhoe
07-21-2009, 10:30 AM
I'm planning on racing this weekend. I have to swing by a bike shop and pick up a helmet if I can find a shop close to my work so that I can get it on my lunch break.

I still haven't heard any new information from the insurance company but, if nothing has happened by the 28th of this month, I'll start taking action to try and force things to move along. I'm looking at the Texas State Board of Insurance as well as considering an attorney right now but I'm still waiting to see what the insurance company comes up with.

S.R.

lilredrocket
07-21-2009, 01:48 PM
you dont have to have your own helmet they will have loaners. Or does the idea of that creep you out?

SaerinRhoe
07-21-2009, 06:03 PM
I know they have loaners but...

I've got a big head. I mean, it's colossal. "Massive" does not begin to define the circumference of my head. Jupiter himself said "damn... that's a big head you've got there mate..."

I found a cycle shop on the way home that will be open so I'll swing by there and price one out. Their website shows one for $39 but I think it might be a kids helmet because their sizing says 2xs and sm. There's nothing else that says it's a kid's size but we'll see. :)

LOL @ LRR - Dude, I'm modding the car as fast as I can with that flat black spray paint so they can't see me hiding. :)

And whoever thought up the idea of meeting at 6:30am on a Saturday? I will try to be there but no promises of me getting my arse up and in gear at that time of the morning. That happens to be just down the street from where I work at Tennyson and Windcrest. :)

Have a good weekend folks and keep the shiny side up!

July 25, 2009 - Coffee and Cars - Classic BMW of Plano

Here some pictures that I took while I was there this morning. This link points to my Picasa album so please let me know if it works for y'all or not.

http://picasaweb.google.com/SaerinRhoe/07252009CoffeeAndCarsPlanoTx#

I got there at 8:30am and left around 9:45am or 10:00am. If you go through the album, you'll find a picture of a black Ford Mustang Cobra with twin red racing stripes. I was parked immediately to the left of the grass median visible at the edge of the picture; just as a reference to where I was if anyone else showed up.

 I didn't see any Yaris in the dealership's parking lot while I was there.

And you know what, if there is one picture that's a must see in that album, take a look at the very last picture. I snapped that one at a stop light after leaving. And, I'm all for home grown mods to your car but using a skateboard and 2-12" angle brackets for a rear wing? I LOL'd.

Take Care,

SaerinRhoe
07-27-2009, 10:48 PM
I've been drifting ever since I got out of high school and realized I had no plan for my life  but I picked up the idea of drifting a Yaris from a couple of crazies that I hung around with in Houston one Sunday afternoon.

And, on a slightly different note, the results from the ER event are posted at www.autocross.com/er if anyone's interested in seeing them. I'm quite happy that I didn't wind up at the bottom of the PAX list.
