June 2009 Yaris sales were down 40.6% in June of '09 vs. June of '08. However, the Yaris is still the best-selling subcompact in 2009. The best sellers thus far look like this:
1. Toyota Yaris
2. Hyundai Accent
3. Nissan Versa

Sales should pick up once the my Toyota dealer signs up the the CARS program. At least, that's when I'm getting my Yaris. =]

All car sales were down in june '09 compared to june '08 so, I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean.
Anyway, Yaris' are still relatively rare in my area but, they are slowly gaining popularity.

Would you buy a new car right now if you may possibly get $4,500 rebate if you wait a while????

Yeah, I had a sick feeling about that till I found out my Volvo just barely missed qualifying for the "Cash For Clunkers" anyway.

Yea, a Versa is like a short bus. Don't tell any Versa owners I said that. What are Yari global market share?

I don't know what the Yaris' global market share is. I do know that the Yaris/Vitz is the best-selling Toyota worldwide.
As far as the Versa, it could be argued that it isn't a subcompact due to its dimensions (a wheelbase of more than 100", it's hefty curb weight, and hell, even its exterior dimensions). It is, however, pretty darn close.
Oddly enough, the EPA classifies it as a mid-size (they also classify cars according to interior volume).

I know this is my first post but do you understand why sales are down from last year that much?
I'll give you a hint. Raise gas to 4.00+ a gallon : )
I was buying a scooter last year around that time. Couldn't afford a 40 mile a day commute. It was costing me 400 a month in gas and I am sure others were paying more.
Love my Yaris and stay away from Suzuki brand cars!!!!!

Yaris is a better way to get to work than a scooter. 40 mile drive. Good reason to move closer to work.
