Hatch/Liftback Owners with AMPs - Where did you connect the ground?

I would like to know where the best areas are for the ground connection for an amplifier in the rear area of the Hatchback/Liftback, particularly in the spare tire well and trunk area.

Can anyone offer some help before I run off to RadioShack for a voltmeter?

Right Under the backseat. One of the bolts that hold the seat and set up down should work great.

Thanks nick, but I'm not sure if I can locate those bolts.

Do I need to remove the seat bottom (mine's a hatchback) to expose those bolts?

it looks like the rear seat is lifted UP?
how did you do that?
How do you remove the rear seat from the frame like that last pic

The rear seat is not lifted up in the 2nd picture.

According to Idjit, the rear seat bottom was removed by disengaging two clips on the bottom of it that held it to the frame.

Any factory bolt will do the trick; just make sure that the ring terminal is touching the chassis metal. If necessary, don't be afraid to scrape a little paint off.

I agree
grind, scrape or sand away any paint between the ground and the metal chasis. I would also add a dab of dielectric grease to keep it corrosion/rust free.

The RS has a different set up with the flat folding seats I guess.

Any one of those bolts would be great for grounding. If you want better results you can ground to 2-3 of the bolts. Remember the threaded bolts and holes and not painted. So grounding shouldn't be an issue

The RS has 60/40 split fold down seats. I guess the LE/CE only has the flat fold down of the entire seat ... ?

Yes, I will definitely grind and sand down the area I'm going to ground to.

I think I'm going to use one of the four lower bolts pictured in the first picture, which hold the plastic trim down. I took out the bolts yesterday and I saw that it was touching the chassis. Pretty good!

I'm only going to select one ground point, as I'm grounding everything to a single point to prevent any new electrical paths to form, which could distort.

Just needs some sanding and it should be good to go.
