Help!

I dropped something very small, and very valuable down into my parking brakes slot! It happened at a standstill, I was in a rush and knocked my ring off my lap and down into this teeeny, tiny slot! The parking brake was engaged (pulled up all the way) and exposed a slot/hole/whathaveyou under the parking brake lever about maybe 2in/2in?

How can I retrieve this ring? Do I need to disassemble the cupholder screw to get down under that shell?

You guys know the most about Yarii so I came here first. :help:

THANK YOU!

yes remove the screw

then pop up the back

if its jammed down there they sell magnetic wand type things that collapse and expand

there used to retrieve bolts that fell in like the engine bay or what not

Concur with above, except most rings are made out of non-metallic metals (unless it is costume jewelry) so the magnetic wand probably won't be of much help!

But those magnetic wands are wonderful things! I've got several, one has a little light on the end and it is indispensable when working on my Jeep!

Cheers! M2

magnet will not attract gold or silver. best to disassemble.

and the ring was on your lap because? Just had to ask that!

I have a sedan, and to get under the ebrake -

1)Unscrew the bolts in the rear cup holder, you should be able to pop all of the trim off around below the cup holder.
2)open the center console, remove the rubber mat at the bottom, and take out the two bolts.
3)pop the bottom of the trim off under the a/c controls, and remove the 2 bolts under there.

You should then be able to pull the entire center console out. The power outlet by the ebrake might still be holding it in, but you should be able to move it around enough to get your ring. Also, when I did this, the purpose was to tighten the lid on the center console, which was popping up when I elbowed it. Tightening the four screws behind the cup holder fixed that problem.

Most rings are non-magnetic, so the wand won't work. After removing the cover, try a piece of wire with a hook bent on the end.
Good luck!

Ok I know its been awhile guys... I have taken off the center console and unfortunately didnt find anything at all. So i'm assuming it has slid under the carpet, as I have checked everywhere inside the cabin. I heard a plink sound when i dropped it/slid off my lap (dont ask) and know it fell into the parking break slot...

SO where could that d*** thing be? Am I going to have to take out the seats/carpet, or is there an easier way to get under the carpet without slicing it up or removing the seats?

AHHHHHHH. frustrated*

Thank you.

If you think it fell in that slot and when you took it out you didn't see it get a shop vac clean it out and go to town with a crevice tool under the edge of the carpet there

No it was most def. valuable... I went on vacation the week after I dropped it. I guess i'm going to remove the seats and peel back the carpet? Or should I go from the back forward since its most probably in the pan between the front and rear seats somewhere...
