:iono: Does Toyota own the name Yaris or are just using it UNTIL they get the rights for the name?

Haha, I told you Mark! These companies are RUTHLESS!
I would take the first step and send a letter to them regarding the use of the Yaris trademark NOW. If nothing else you'll be able to correct the issue now rather than later.

They probably own the name :(.
However, I don't see why would they want to shut out site down if there's no commercial activities going own with the name! Same a Scionlife as far as I know: just an enthusiast website. However, I don't think it can hurt to send them a letter informing about the website and asking them nicely to keep using the name or sth like that, but again, I'm no lawyer...

which is engaged in commercial activities relating to Toyota products, including the sale of customer leads.
i belive they are telling people to go to specific dealers ships, which may be what is being frowned upon by toyota?

I am not familiar with tundrasolutions.com since this is the first Toyota I have owned, but it mentions a leads system in the letter... I am assuming this has to do with the cars themselves, which is probably what set Toyota off to come after them. The only ventures taking place on this site are by aftermarket dealers who are giving members discounted prices, much different from the aforementioned situation. I do not think Toyota has any power to stop this, and looking over the site the only thing they can control is the image of their cars in the YW logo. Other than that, it is all user contributed and they have no power to stop this.
I get to send a letter to Chevy soon to address the same situation as I am part of a team currently developing cobaltkingdom.com. It was funny this popped up, as I just messaged YarisBueller about legal concerns regarding the use of manufacturer trademarks a few days ago. Anyone planning on taking their love of tuning to the web take note!

Well, I beleive the situation with Yarisworld is a bit different, over on Tundra solutions you have to pay to gain access to the knowledge base... and there are a number of other ways they are making money in a fashon that Toyota obviously feels is questionable. As most of the documentation in the KB that you have to pay to gain access to is issued by Toyota, it can be construed to be copyrighted to Toyota, so I'd say they have every right to order Tundra Solutions to cease and desist.

So are they going to sue anyone above the Arctic Circle for having tundra? Maybe this website has a solution for it!

tun·dra (tndr) Pronunciation Key
n.
A treeless area between the icecap and the tree line of Arctic regions, having a permanently frozen subsoil and supporting low-growing vegetation such as lichens, mosses, and stunted shrubs.
They must be working on a Solution to the Tundra! Like trying to get trees to grow and stuff, right??
