Just a few more interior mods

My 60GB iPod center button is dying but it still works well. So I went to Crutchfield and bought an Alpine head unit (CDA-105).
I can controll the iPod from the head unit and has a great sound.

While I was in there, I added a few red LED's in the mix.

My next add is going to be Blue LED's in the cup holders in the dash and the center console.

i like the idea .. i'd have to do it with some dimmer LED so that it doesnt blast me in the face when I am driving :) probably face them away from the cabin so the glow refects out :)

i might give that a whirl. i did the floor with green LED already

it's not as bad as you think. The LED's are on the left side of the vent, and back behind the "louvers". I was taking the pics with the camera in the passenger side with the vents up and the camera pointing right at the LED's.
Normal driving, they are just an ambient glow......With other colors (blue) that may be a different story.

i just finished replacing all the interior lights with LED banks.. the car is like daylight inside now.. super crisp. the dome has a 15LED band and the front lights have 6LED bulbs and the back hatch light has a 8LED bank.. super bright :)

That's my next mod......Although I do have 60 LED's in the trunk. They only turn on when I hace the car on.
I need to do the map lights and the dome light next, oh and the license plate lights.....

I have not seen a D.I.Y for this.
I did this as a random thing, and should have taken pictures.
When I put in the Blue LED's in the cup holders I will take pics and post them up, in a D.I.Y fashion.

I should have them done tonight.....I am not a patient person.:biggrin:

one thing I forgot, I have the 09 Sedan. The 194 blub in the trunk is in the upper deck near the rear window....I should be able to find what I need for that.

Here are the Blue LED's I added to the cup holders.
Sorry I did not bring my camera out with me when I was doing the install. I went out to see how they would fit, the next thing I know I was done.

I also did the center cup holder for the back seat in blue, but the pics came out crappy..

I can write up how i did it if anyone wants to know.

i got my amber leds yesterday, im following my amber theme in the cab to match everything else that came stock. You guys use SMDs for the dome lights?

Btw, i love how awesome it looks to have a glowing water bottle. looks friggin awesome.

What do you have under the dash for the floors? Is that just one of the those ~15$ LED bars from Walmart on each side? I see those and I'm like "those are cheap. I should buy them." but something always tells me that they suck.

No these are not the Walmart LED's bars....They are similar but I bought them from http://www.ledunderbody.com

It's the 4 piece interior expandable kit. I spent about $70 for 6 tubes, including shipping.
I have the same set in Blue in my wife's Scion xB, and they have been in her car for almost 3 years.....never an issue. I would suggest replacing the fuse connector from the kit with something a little more rugged, the cheap plastic one broke after two years.....but that was easy to fix.

tap on the pink "door-open" switched ground for your LED's (-) wire, and on the blue wire for your LED's (+) wire. refer to post #56's quoted reply.
