Most likely a bent lower control arm. Being the bolt-on part between the wheel hub and the subframe, it is designed to sacrifice itself to protect the subframe in just such a situation.

Toe eats tires a lot more than camber does. As long as you don't have more than a degree or so of positive camber, it should be okay to drive for a while.

Changing the lower control arm didnt help. I see some possible damage on the crossmember, I'm really hoping its not. I'll post pictures of it. Maybe its the shock/strut assembly? I dont know, its probably time to send it to a shop? I wouldnt know where to even begin with that..

if you jack up the car, you would see what is bent, what is not. But i do not understand how you would have reassembled the whole thing without noticing anything bent?

the diagnostic is pretty simple. If you have camber, the problem is probably the control arm or shock/strut assembly or the ball joint. The ball joint comes with the control arm, this has probably already been fixed when you changed yours.

A slightly bent subframe can be hard to see.

How far out of spec is the camber and/or toe? Those fancy camber adjustment bolts that a lot of people use to get 2 degrees of negative camber were designed for just this sort of problem. If it's not more than a degree or two out, you can correct it by either using an appropriate smaller diameter camber bolt or just slotting the lower strut bolt hole and adjusting it however you need to.

When I had my accident last year more or less the same happened... Massive toe in and some positive camber. It was indeed the lower control arm, and the bearing in the wheel hub thing was also twisted, so that might be something you could check?

A frame shop is gonna have to look at this - cant tell by the photos. they have pickup points they can measure on the frame parts. They might be able to "pull" some parts straight with a come-a-long. You might have a damaged ball joint and dont want to drive much until its thoroughly check out- this can fracture and you'll loose the wheel off the car!

I dont think you can "bend" a strut without it being broken or binding. You prob moved the attacment collar up top which is usually adjustable. You could bend the unit body and the subframe tho. Have a frame shop look at it, they can check it and put the new struts in!

BAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA i did the same thing myself... however ive done a shitload of damage

all prices in AUD and done at the stealership
new struts 900$ steering rack 1700 tyre rods(?) 300$

hope this helps... mines getting repaired now... poor car! thank god for insurance :)
