Help. Instability on highway

Hello from Spain.

I´ve a '08 Yaris D4D with 6x16" rims (from a Corolla TS) and 195-50-16 tyres (Toyo Proxes T1R). Stock suspension.

The problem is that in highway driving over 60millas, the car is very hard to keep straight. It affects the state of the road, wind and even the air to the advancement of other cars. It is very uncomfortable.


Do you think that putting Eibach springs with stock shocks will be better?
What alignment should be better for highway?

assuming you're still on stock/oem suspension, a straight oem-spec alignment is best for the highway. make sure to get well within specs for toe especially.

a bad tire+wheel balance would contribute less to your problems, but i'd check that too.

Yes, I have oem suspension.

The weight of my 16" are the same of the oem in 15".

The car is only 25.000kms (about 15K miles)

yes. start with the alignment first. it's relatively inexpensive considering it affects so many variables, including tire wear.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your Yaris that we haven't all experienced at highway speeds.

the TRD rear bar helped my car's stability very much on the highway- with everything else stock

check your tire pressures. virtually free.

also, if you DO opt for an alignment, have the tech err on the side of toe-in up front (while still maintaining factory specs) if you want the car to handle better at higher speeds.

I was running 38psi in front and 36 rear. (in other cars usually have this tyre pressures and all ok)

Few weeks ago, I put 29psi rear and front and the car goes a little better.

Finally, I bought an Ultra Racing Rear Sway Bar (19mm) and a set of rear hub spacers (10mm)

When I install them, I told you the results :D
