I bought my Yaris in July of 08, Its a red hatch i love it! Since money is scarce right now i decided to paint my hub caps black it added a nice touch and was very inexpensive. I also taped off the toyota symbol so it's still silver.
Eventually i would like coil overs, exhaust and intake but we'll see how the money flow is.

I also have a bat sign decal on my back window that evolved from many inside jokes. Originally the boys i work with made fun of the yaris and its tiny engine i went on to brag that it turns into the bat mobile on the full moon. They're all jealous now.

The yaris has had only one incident, and that involved a trash can. My friends and family made huge bandaids and put them on the yaris as a joke. They're jealous.

Anytime i see another hatch yaris when i'm driving i tend to yell and point yaris, my boyfriend laughs and i ask the question, do other yaris owners get excited when they see me? lol I Heart my lil Yaris!

this is my first post glad to be a member

What products did you use and what were the steps?

It looks nice!

We used a plastic fusion flat black spray.

First we took the hub caps off and sanded them by hand. Then we used a degreaser on them. Followed by spray painting them with the black fusion paint. We did a lot of coats, prob 8ish then we followed that with several clear coats of matte. I let them sit in the sun for a while, and didn't put them back on for a couple days.

Our next project will be taking the emblems off to paint them black.

*if you want better directions i can get my boyfriend to write them. I'm new to the working on cars thing, i do all the work on my yaris but i'm getting hands on help from the boy. so i might not have the best directions*

Not to flame you but those sticker and license plate frame to me looks a little on the tacky side. But on a plus side i like the hubcaps looks much better.

I've thought about doing the same to my hubcaps, since my emblems are already black and I want everything to match. I'm just riding around on bare steelies right now, which works I guess.

Oh and by the way, whenever I see another Yaris on the road I point and say Yaris as well. My girlfriend calls me a dork, but I don't care. I like seeing them. When we go out of town I usually count how many I see during the trip.

I definitely laughed out loud when I read this because I do the same thing when I see another Yaris.

Me - "Yaris!"
Passenger - "You have issues..."

YARISSSSSSS!

I'm guilty of pointing and shouting yaris as well.

I don't feel like an idiot now that I know other yaris owners are the same way.

I like the black hub caps btw

Welcome to Yarisworld -dragon-
You can remove the hubcaps by slow lifting around the rim all around the edges with a wide flat head screwdriver. It's like opening the lid of a paint can.

Hey we got new people on board! Welcome, guys! :headbang:
I love the idea of painting the hubcaps black. Looks GREAT!!!
I notice you have paws on your license plate frame. Do you have a cat or a dog, or something else?

ps. the band-aids are pretty funny, but I love the "I heart my Yaris" plate!

Hubcaps look good. Cheap and easy mod! I wave too all the Scions down here and they all look at me crazy, mainly because it is retired people driving an XB.

Do you happen to recall what brand of paint you used for painting the hubcaps? I really like that look, and would like to do something similiar (not sure if black is what I want since my car is Meteorite Metallic).
