Has anyone actually heard this test happen?
I can imagine this will be a wonderful moneymaker for Toyota as the hoses get older and leak as the car ages......

I remember seeing that when I first bought my Yaris. I've never heard it though.

I hear it almost every night. I have to walk through the garage to go to and from my office. The first time it did it (probably the second night I had the car), I thought something was wrong with the car (and of course I hadn't RTFM yet). I did a quick search on here and found out about the pressure test.

I had this system on my 05 Taco so I would assume this is common on all of Toyota's vehicles produced at least in the last few years.
It also tests the evaporitive fuel system amd if you leave the Gas Cap loose. It will flag a "Check Engine Light"

All vehicles have this now days. Evaporative system is the sealed system from your gas tank to your engine. It constantly self checks for leaks. Cause you wouldnt want a cracked evap hose leaking fumes and someone walks by your car smoking a cigarette. Typically evap hoses are made of a special material much stronger than regular heater hose. They last 15 years or more.
It also tests the Evaporative fuel system. If you leave the gas cap loose. A 'Check Engine Light' and error code will be stored.
