Hi Everyone!

I am looking to purchase a used 2006 yaris with appx 70,000 km on it.

I am very excited to get the car!

What maintenance is required and what problems should I expect (known failures)

When does the timing belt or chain need to be replaced?
How often do the breaks have to be serviced?

Toyota Canada says the tranny fluid to be replaced at 96,000 km
Toyota Canada says the coolant to be replaced at 128,000 km

I also heard of a recall for the "pre-tensioner deployment" what years does this apply to?

Any tips information would be helpful

Thanks!!

w/ 70k on the ticker, you shouldnt need to look for much except for excessive paint chipping on the hood and bumper and maybe to see if the brakes need changing...

look in the diy section for the TSB, make sure that toyota has changed or fixed some of the expensive ones.

I have 93K on my '06. Have had to replace front pads. Nothing else to date.
