toyobaru, a coming together of subaru and toyota.
what's your impressions/thoughts/suggestions for next toyota sport car?
general information I tried to find {
model: possibly Supra or Celica
stuff: ~180-200 HP NA (2.5L) boxer w/6spd (possibly just a 5spd) in RWD setup (subaru parts)
ETA: 2012 model year (currently on hold?)
}
my guessing portion {
weight: ~3000lbs? (toyotas seem to be getting lighter these days)
0-60: ~7 sec.
mpg: ~24-26mpg
price: ~20-22k$
}

how many renderings of this are we going to have? this has been talked into the ground for the last two years.

The first pic looks too much like a Celica. Second pic looks too generic. It's like as if 3 or 4 different cars already on the road got it on and made a crack baby. The third one I really like. Something tells me if it goes into production it'll be rebadged as the next tC. They'll probably rename it "tD" lol

First pics has hints of the MR-S. Second pic is as if an Elise and a BMW 1-series had a baby. Third pic looks like a VW CC and a tC mixed. But I agree, too many renderings. And I doubt this will be the next Supra since the GTR has a much higher HP rating.

the boxer engine is easily turbo'd to 230hp (even 300 with ease) so that may be down the line as an option, or atleast aftermarket, as it already is turbo'd for subbies.
3000 lbs. is actually an over estimation, may be closer to 2800 is my guess. 6 some odd seconds for 0-60 is nice i think, and close to what it may end up as (NA engine). the final pic is very toyota, especially the front and would resound well with a NA engine.
will this ever go into production, who knows :D
and tamago, this is just a conversation about the hopeful future of sports cars and toyota; something that seems dwindling these days :(
i checked the forums and there seems to be no real talk about toyota's sport car future, so I thought I'd strike up a match here.
and big_chef, I like your tag line and your profile picture :p

i'd love to see the ft-hs, but i think production costs would bring this closer to +35k$, but probably 400HP :D

Cheers
I have a feeling that they'd rather push the LF-A concept into production.

i just want toyota to bring back the supra (93-98 TT). not the new retro version they are coming out with, but the 93-98 version. Same engine, body, interior, everything, and a warranty! That'd be nice.

Yeah, bringing back the MK-IV would be nice.

toyota is playing it safe and lazy and boring. typical, (and toyota is losing my die-hard fanaticism)

toyota has disappointed me since the ending of the supra life cycle, last good toyota sports car IMO. I'm wondering if lotus has them in some agreement not to encroach upon sports territory with toyota parts, or maybe it's just: toyota is playing it safe and lazy and boring. typical, (and toyota is losing my die-hard fanaticism)
to which I whole heartedly agree.
it's a bit sad to see toyota possibly using another manufacturers parts, but I still want a toyota sports car, either way :\
