wheelspin problem

hey guys

i got a problem i'd like to get rid of

when i go hot into a corner , and try and give alot of throttle , the front wheels just start spinning , will a sway bar help with keeping the wheels down , here is my setup:

Tein super compact coilovers - 6 front - 8 rear - setting
Tananbe front strut bar
17 inch michilen pilots 205 / 40 /17
tire pressure - 2.4 bar ( nitrogen )

you do have low profile tires, maybe running on 16s or 15s might help. The sway bar will help your rear end out, at least my friend w/ the Forester says it does for his~

Whats 2.4 bar? what psi is that? I usually run 42psi on my fronts, they spun out couple times under heavy liftoffs lol..

i was thinking bout trying 15 inch with semi slicks , might grip little better on the front

Wouldn't a bigger side wall cause more tire wall roll?

I say a rear sway bar and stickier tires, and if you can afford it, an LSD (expensive!).

Well, 1 bar is 14.5 psi, so 2.4 bar is about 36 psi.

If both wheels are spinning get new tires.

If only/mainly the inside wheel is spinning then it's probably lifting and a big rear sway bar should help.

well, when you corner hard, the weight transfers to the outside wheels.....so if you're tossing it into the corner too hard and hammering the gas, it doesnt matter how flat your suspension lets you sit, youll still light up the inside wheel

Like mentioned in the above posts... First you need to tune the driver!!

You already have a VERY capable coilover suspension!!

On a FWD car you need to keep momentum thru the turns a get a good feel of how the weight transfers from front to back...

No matter what suspension you have you can not go full thottle on the curve... you will lift the inside tire no matter what! Practice...! You jave to be smooth on the throttle while going out of a turn.

Once you have yourself dialed in you can start playing with the suspension.

Try soften the front and going stiffer on the back... play with tire pressures also... higher pressure on the back...

The rear sway bar will be a great improvement...

After that if you are still seen alot of wheel spining you can go with a mod that Loren suggested. Disconect the front swaybar of the car.
Make sure you look up Loren's thread first so you understand what are the pros and cons of this mod.

And finally, the LSD. A great but usually pricy $$$ modification.

yeah , i have been trying to spin the wheels on purpose to see what the limits of grip etc are.

i think a sway bar in the rear would be the next upgrade to do for sure , and possibly a bit more grippy tires.

i must say , when i do keep it smooth , the Teins perform really wheel , and really come to life on mountain passes.

i got a few more power upgrades to do , and looks like a local tuner will get the Unichip Q from Dastek to work on my car well. so loads of development to go , and having fun doing it.

yeah , you right , they are pretty high , but i keep them little higher as we have bad roads with crappy potholes lately , so trying to protect the wheels a bit more.
