I just bought a '07 Yaris, and the previous owner apparently changed the gear knob. The knob pops off easily and the stick was also loose. I took it back to the dealer and they fixed the stick and I thought they'd fixed the knob. But now the knob is loose again. I can see that the stick is threaded but the inside of the knob isn't. Help...?

i'd go to Auto Zone and pick out a new knob, then tighten it on real good. but that's me.

Perhaps most people on here know a lot about this sort of thing, but I know nothing at all. The dealer already replaced the knob, and I have no idea why they would replace it with the wrong type.

Oh, the dealer put another knob on it and it's still loose, thats weird....

Is it a manual transmission, I have a few shift knobs I've used on mine laying around I could sell you one for cheap....

^ I bet it does, or usually three Allens. The cheaper knobs are made that way to fit any car. They usually come with inserts for a tighter fit, but eventually they can become loose.

buy a Delrin knob, you will not be sorry! -- or one of the used ones that come up in classifieds.

Thanks very much! I don't know why it's difficult to find the threaded ones, but the Delrin one is threaded, so I bought it. Thanks for the link and the help!
