Hello To all;
Wife found a 07 3 dr. Yaris 20,000 miles, auto 1 owner.
A divorce sale.
I think the only options are 15" wheels & automatic can't think of any other options, basic car.
The bottom price is $9,400.00. What does the group think of the price?

KBB and edmunds say 9-10 grand depending on condition, but I guarantee you can get it cheaper right now. Cash for clunkers has increased the supply of used cars in the 9-10 grand, lowering the demand. Tell them you could trade in a car worth 200 bucks and get a brand new 2dr automatic yaris for under 10 grand out the door and see what they say.

this is understood, however, right at the moment, it is a buyers market... anybody that actually knows what is going on, will be able to bring this price down a long way... because of things like cash for clunkers... so the statement to let them know that you could buy a brand new yaris for about the same price as what he wants, and the new one will have a warranty, unlike the old one...
this is just meant as food for thought, also i don't think that anyone on here would want to see anyone else that is looking at buying a yaris to get taken for a ride on price...

I believe it is a fair price. I recently saw an '08 auto with 4,200 miles for $10,400 which I thought was a good deal.

I paid about the same price for my 2007 LB, manual transmission, from a dealer here in California, 6 month ago. Mind you, mine had 55K at the time but was otherwise in excellent condition. There was a high demand for that kind of used cars, though (small, economical, manual transmission, which is hard to find out here) and a Yaris like that usually lasted about 10 days on the lot before someone bought it, so I got it on the spot the day I did the test drive at the dealership.
Since then, Toyota has been having sales, 0% financing, etc and we see a lot more Yarii on the street... that probably means that our used Yarii are worth a little less, now, because it's that much easier to get a new one.
Offer 8,500 and give them 9K finanl offer?

Yeah - littel cheap-to-run cars like the Yaris are getting MUCH more popular -- for a reason. $9,400 sounds reasonable,and if you can get them down to $9k, so much the better.
Calling the cash-for-Clunkers thing to try to lower the price is nuts - if you hadone to trade, you'd be at the dealers signing papers right now, so don't go there. :smile:

9K is fair for a used car with those kind of miles. The car might base model MSRP at $13K, but after Auto tranny, floor mats, under coat, and tires, it would be closer to the mid $14K range new. With the cash 4 clunkers, there is actually a high demand and a SHORTAGE of Yaris right now. We just got up to 2 months back order yesterday. Same with Prius. And the Rav4 is in super high demand now too. Corolla's have been rolling off the lot like marbles that fell out of a bag, but Camry's seem to be the same. Tundra's are going a little slow, and Tacoma's are the same, but the Highlanders are gone too. Venza's seem to be at a total stand still. Once they hit though, they will be a great car. AWD, HUGE I-4 (2.7L), and VERY roomy. Great car, just new and people are unsure of it at the moment. I don't even know if we've sold one, but they are nice. Stupid Solara's aren't being made anymore either. And the need to bring back the Celica or the Supra.

When I bought my Yaris in April I think it was 190 days supply. I guess getting BOTH the $1000 of and 0% is gone?

Yeah... it is $750 or 2.9% for 60 months right now, but it changes daily. Best deal in YEARS is the cash-4-clunkers. We actually had trouble getting a person a deal because they had too much cash down, and the banks won't finance less than $6k for 60 months. Weird, right? So we had to tell them to put less down. They got the car for somewhere in the neighborhood of $8,000 financed. SWEET deal. Especially since the car stickered at over $15,000.
