i know this is in the wrong place but i need some help for you guys.
i'm hooking up my stereo and can't get the speakers to work. i'm using the scosche line out converter because i want to keep my stock HU. currently i split the wires behind the radio and ran the wires from the HU to the input of the line out converter, rca to the amp, and from the amp back up to the other side of the speaker wires behind the HU. i can get power to the amp but i can't get the speakers to work... what am i doing wrong?????

what color wires did you tap? check to make sure you got the right wires. maybe your converter has adjustment check it to see. i can think of several more things to check.

Hang on - Are you using the line-out converter or the speaker level converter?

Where did ya get the amp?
Does the amp have any fuses onboard, I had one with 2 glass fuses behind black caps on the face of it.
Maybe its broken.
I always found calling a shop that installs, will get you free help over the phone by nice, knowledgible people, its worth a try.

i'm using the scosch line out converter. it changes the wires to rca's. but even when i bypass that and wire straight to the amp i still get nothing. i think the amp is bad and am going to suck it up and get a new one tomorrow. if it still doesn't work i know i messed something up and can always return it... if it does work then i had a bad amp and it needed to be replaced anyway. my dad and i spent a few hours troubleshooting that thing and we just can't get any sound through the amp. worst case scenario, i have to cancel my trip to ohio next weekend due to a lack of funds... but at least my car will sound good.

Yeah I went and forgot it is the weekend!
Do you have any speakers that you can test your rca connections with (old house stereo speakers)? Thats 1 more thing you can be sure is right before spending money.

For the wiring. The following connections should be off of the blue connector:
Power - Black or Gray (next to blue)
Ground - White w/black stripe
Gray (next to pink)- Front Right+
Yellow - Front Right-
Pink - Front Left+
Violet - Front Left-
The rears are off of the small white connector:
Black - Rear Left+
Yellow - Rear Left-
Red - Rear Right+
White - Rear Right-

the rca cables are brand new... i hardly even had to uncoil them. i'll try that test in the am but i don't think they are going to be bad. i think there is something wrong with the input of the amp.

Buy a cheap multimeter and test input, output and continuity.

do u have friends with subs/amps. I know I've used "known good setups" just to do a quicky wire up to check your power, remote,RCAs... etc. that's a cheap way to check and compare your stuff.
