Yeah, I did, thanks!
It's always good to get out of the country to clear your head, but also really good to come back, if you know what I mean! ;)

You know, they have the greatest little cars over in Europe.
I saw a lot of Yarii in France, tons of them, actually, on the freeways, but not as many in Paris.
More SMARTS and Clio's and other type of small cars.
I saw the cutest little FORD, really, really small, never seen anything like this in the US
It's somewhere on my HD, hang on, here you go.

tomato , that Ford you found so cute is the biggest POS in Europe just so you know , it might be cute but its terrible, i drove one in Poland and it felt like i was driving one of those kids plastic cars:

Is that right? Well, I didn't drive it but I was impressed by the number of small cars similar to our Yaris (hatchback, ultra compact)

Europeans are "thrifty", vast majority have learned that it is easier to commute if you have a smaller car, that city life can be so much simpler with a small turning radius and short wheelbase. It is only now this concept of automotive living is becoming a reality here in the US. Just getting people to trade down to a lower cost and sometimes a slower car is a hard thing to grasp.

Too bad we cant tell this to some of the Excursion driving soccer moms that swear up and down they still need the 12mpg hog to get back and forth to Sam's Club on the weekends. Hell, even companies like Mazda are headed in the right direction trying to solve this... Make a Crossover Minivan, lol. The Mazda 5 is a great little car/van/thing. It can seat plenty, and still have room in the hatch for some groceries.

Hmmm.... We hired a diesel Megane in 2006 in the UK, and it was the ugliest car I have ever driven. Have to admit the R26 looks better, but here's the butt.

oh, I don't know, SailDesign, I think she's cute  well, compared to the older models, that is. She reminds me a little bit of a modern AMI 6

I have t oadmit she drove very nicely. Embarrassed a BMW 3-series in the rotaries (lotsa those in the UK) although he would always catch me on the 1/2-mile straights in between, only to be embarrassed on the corners all over again! Fun.

.

Some of these smaller cars are not necessarily slower than my Yaris. I wish we had more small cars to choose from out here. Parking out here is getting more and more difficult :frown:

My first car was a Citroen 2CV6 Dolly, it looked exactly like this one:

http://i30.tinypic.com/333vpqh.jpg

The Ford Ka might look cute but its a really crappy car. It was never popular for good quality. The new KA hopefully does a better job.

We have tourists in Jamestown who like to take up two spaces. With their Excursions and Hummers, etc.
So I parked nose-in behind one last night (still inside the half-space he'd left) when I went to get take-out. Pissed him off that he didn't have room to back up to get out without turning his wheel more than half a turn. I asked him to learn how to drive, or get used to being parked in. dork!

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

My boyfriend had a Citroën C3.

It was a comfortable little car with soft seats.

But the built quality was horrible and we had many electrical and mechanical faillures with this car!
It was a very slow car too in comparison with our Yaris.

This was the car:

IMHO one of the most unique-looking small cars was the original Renault Twingo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Twingo). Unfortunately, like the Ka, it was total crap (electrical problems, rust). Already in 1992 it had a centrally-mounted instrument panel and sliding rear seat.

http://www.niot.net/niot_570/renault%20tiwingo%201.jpg

Of current cars, I like the design of the Citroen C3 Picasso (http://www.citroen.co.uk/new-cars/citroen-c3-picasso/). A European take on the Japanese ute-box concept.

The new Citroën C3 is a nice car too:

http://www.autoweek.nl/images/800/5/1e4c9f5401d207b499dc588b1a2fb685.jpg

And the Mini and Alfa Romeo Mito killer, the Citroën DS3:

http://www.autoweek.nl/images/800/5/2b632f197671498b6d40baad7ad03195.jpg

But my boyfriend and i never ever buy a Citroën again.
Nothing can compare with the reliability of a Japanese car.

other nice Citroëns:

the C5:

http://www.autoweek.nl/images/800/5/7501499dbd8309b2bd452c0823c86f55.jpg

and the C5 tourer:

http://www.autoweek.nl/images/800/5/62329176e0a51e49680fc74b4ad38da5.jpg

the C6, already a classical car:

What can I say, I'm sentimental and I really dig these old cars.
I snapped this one in Paris, France.
There is an "A" in the back, which I believe means something like "learner's permit"
Note how the stickshift comes from under the dashboard.
The ride is really bouncy, and when you take a turn, the whole body of the car swings outwards but the wheels don't move. Kind of funny.

Sorry I didn't resize the pix.
