So i am really stoked about the announcement of toyota's new sports car so i just thought i'd start a thread about it. surely i'm not the only one who is excited. the pic looks promising. my new goal is to have my yaris payed off for when this comes out.

guess it's supposed to be in the $20,000 range. RWD. 4-cylinder. surely they'll make a V6 right? anyway i know there's many a car buff in these forums so i figured some of you might know more about this than i do.

If this car comes out in 2012/2013, i will have my Vitz paid off and ready to trade in? lol
A Toyota RWD just makes my heart scream....

If I have my Yaris paid off when that comes out... I'm DEFINTELY keepin' the Yaris and at least attempting to get a loan to add one of those bad boys to my stable... Looks great!

is this actually being made? everyone says it's going to be made, then no, then yes, then no. Which is it?

Its supposed to house a Subaru turbo motor. This year is supposedly the last year for the current model tC.

when i read about this, it had a turbo engine and produced 240 to the crank. now that link states 200 bhp. boooo

200 BHP is still very good for an N/A boxer engine, but you can always get a bolt-on turbo for an easy 300

I just don't see the point in having it produced separately as both a Toyota and a Subaru though. One has a different badge than the other, big deal. Might as well call it a Suyota StC...

I've also read that the only place it will be sold as a Toyota (badge) is in Japan. It'll be a Subaru elsewhere.

I wonder if they will try to market it in the US under Scion, to get the "hip" crowd. Scion tE anyone?

there are like 100 threads on this topic

the project was cancled due to the poor economy, there was an artical a long time ago from toyota talking about why toyo/sub will not be doing it. Mostly due to the poor car sales/economy, also it would be sold as a subaru over here / toyota over seas

idk this article here is pretty recent... says it hasn't been canceled. i don't see why poor car sales would keep toyota from trying to sell cars. that's kinda what they do...
