Vehicle 2009 Yaris Sedan S with iPod and Aux connections
Toyota Part Number PT546-52090
Pioneer Model DEH-M8337ZT, Faceplate Logo T1810
4 OEM speakers (about to be changed)

1. I'm having an issue where I can not play podcasts from iPod.
The only options are Playlists, Artists, Albuns and Songs.
The workaround I'm using is to select the podcast by artist, not optimal...

Another problem is you can not skip podcast chapters, bad.
I turned Direct Control On (iPod master / Audio system Slave) but then you lose the multi selector functions to navigate the iPod. I turned it back Off.

2. Does anybody know the DSP (off/compact/sedan/minivan) spectrum changes ? I set mine to sedan but I do not hear much difference between settings...

3. Do you know af a longer iPod cable ? The OEM cable PT546-21062 is VERY short.

4. ASL works fine, I like it.

5. Text works fine but I wish it had a scrolling mode.

6. Do you know of system settings other then iPod direct control on/off ?

7. Yes, I read the manuals and these are the questions I could not get an answer.

You're asking a lot for an economy radio on an economy car. I would answer your questions but I only had the stock stereo for all of 4 hours.

As for podcasts, they are a retarded format, and I don't blame stereos for not playing them - why can't you just record each chapter as an mp3 and call it a day?

Thanks on your reply.

I get a lot of free (and very good) content via podcasts.
I do not spend any time managing it (copy, reformat, etc).
I listen to podcasts on a daily basis when I'm driving.
I get songs, news, spoken blogs (like Bruce Schneier (http://www.schneier.com/blog/)), education (like the Glassfish (https://glassfish.dev.java.net/) podcast), comedy (Comedy Central (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=160875147)), etc.
It's a lot and it's free.
The iPod / iPhone integration to iTunes brings a lot of added value to this "MP3 Player".

Added: I found a better workaround for the podcast issue:
I created smart playlists in iTunes that link to podcasts.
Now the I can select and play podcasts using the "Playlists" selection
Cool !

I've got an 08 hb and my deck looks a little different than yours.... so i may have different results than you.

hmmm i'll have to check into this... I was actually planing on putting a bunch of "The Naked Scientists" podcasts on my ipod to listen to in the car... would suck if it doesn't work. I've got the 2nd gen shuffle... so no screen... just plugin and push play.
