Well, i'm officially jealous of all the YW DFW owners. I know of only a few down here, none i've actually met in person. Maybe we could combine the Houston guys with DFW folks and meet somewhere in the middle. Where, i have no idea. This is just a brain storming session on how to get more of us together. Let me know if anyone is interested in getting something together. Im in far NW Houston, pass Kingwood heading north on 59.

Here is the final draft. Hope anyone who reads this is able to attend! http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22053

I know custom Lftback lives north of Houston in Willis. I'm up for metting somewhere in between. I think JT258 is moving from Houston to SA soon. TXkid lives out in Sugarland. Those are all the Yaris owners I know down in Houston but I think there are a few more down there. What we really need to do is get a whole TX meet. Is would be difficult to organize but would be a great time!! User frownonfun lives out east in Odessa, there is a owner that I have pm'd up in the panhandle, OZMDD lives in the DFW are but he said he has been very busy this summer and hasn't been on much and hasn't made it to any meets or auto-x's, go-cart ride and Wildmongoose26 live in the DFW area too and I have yet to meet any of them, also there are 3 others I think down in SA saplaymate, Mad Max, and one other I think. Is it bad that I know all that? But as for regular meetings it's usually Lazerdot, SaerinRhoe, and I.

Sugar Land yaris owner here. We could pick one or more of the roads from this site http://www.motorcycleroads.us/states/tx.html and take a fun drive.

08-22-2009, 10:15 AM
^ That's a cool site you got there.

Slick
08-22-2009, 10:48 AM
Hell, DFW is only how far from me? Less than a 3 hour drive. I could meet yall somewhere up north  maybe the bottom of dal or something.

lilredrocket
08-22-2009, 11:31 AM
It's funny because the south side of Dallas is like 45 mins to an hour from me an I live on the south side of Fort Worth!!

SaerinRhoe
08-22-2009, 02:57 PM
I know there's a guy down in Greune or Gruene Texas (pronounced green). That's right by new Braunfels and I think that's close to the halfway mark. I'd love to meet up with more folks from Houston or S.A. and have a bigger meet.

LRR, LazerDot and I have made a group trip down to Houston and LRR goes down there a lot. I've been down once on my own and we've all met folks from the Houston area. I've never been to S.A. so I'd LOVE to meet there and see the sights.

I love to drive and travel so I'm up for whatever. It's just going to need some serious planning maybe a month or 2 out. Or just have everyone meet in different cities each month, but to get it started 2 cities are going ot have to agree on traveling to the other one. So each month we would all rotate around SA, Houston, and DFW. I bet Mike would be happy to host us at the NST showroom and parking lot and I have no problem having BBQ's at my house. We can get this going and show up the California guys on meets!!

MadMax
08-22-2009, 10:20 PM
We had talked about Gruene previously... (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8665)

lilredrocket
08-22-2009, 11:28 PM
Would no one be interested in rotating? (at least this way everyone can make it to the one in there city) If the guys for SA want the meet in there city to be in Gruene that's ok with me but I feel in order to get everyone togeather it would have to be an equal distance for everyone to drive College Station?

Slick
08-22-2009, 11:43 PM
Hell yeah, I think the rotation is a pretty good idea! A minimum of a month notice at least for sure. That way, those of us with convoluted schedules can make time. I will definitely start coming to greet n meets as long as im off work. (i work fri, sat, & sun and school mon & wed btw). Id love to mix my audio know how with others performance/cosmetic know how. Heck, i'd even bring a sub stage install kit and wire someones ride up for free :) for those that may be on the timid side of electronics.

jminshew
08-23-2009, 02:40 AM
I'm up for rotation. I love making weekend trips to other cities. How about a timeframe. First weekend in December?

Slick
08-23-2009, 08:14 AM
Well, were fixing to roll into september so im thinking we should shoot for something during mid/end of oct or nov. I like the idea of college station but idk how "in the middle" it is. Im on my phone right now, but i'll look at interactive map later to find out an approximate middle :) I don't mind traveling to different cities. I mean, we live in texas, a long trip is anything over a day of driving :)

lilredrocket
08-23-2009, 04:23 PM
If everyone is willing to drive for the "First Texas Yaris Yak" I will host it at my house. We can BBQ have a pot luck of sorts. I have a big garage for working on cars. I did Lazerdot's brake at one of our meets!! I have a big back yard and pool so you can can bring your kids if you have any. We do enforce a family friendly enviorment so swim suits are necessary for any one wanting to swim. I'm thinking about mid Oct. Let me know what you guys think.

Slick
08-23-2009, 07:24 PM
Sounds good to me man. You mind linking a mapquest to your location so we can get an idea of where you live, for those of us who haven't been there  Im really up for anything anywhere, so long as it has a definitive date.

lilredrocket
08-23-2009, 07:30 PM
Here you go. Lets get a couple more people in here to finally decide on a date.

Yep, need some feedback from the rest of the Texas Yarii guys n gals.

Edit: and your only 4 hours away :)

xxae07xx
08-23-2009, 08:12 PM
yea 4 hours is a no go for me however id def be down for a houston area meet in the future

Slick
08-23-2009, 08:28 PM
Well, I was lookin at Google Maps and College Station is a decent half way point for us further south, ie Houston, Austin & SA. However, its a lil more of a stretch for those of yall in DFW. Would yall in DFW mind coming to College Station if it meant a larger Yaris gathering? IDK. Lets get a lil more input from everyone.

jminshew
08-23-2009, 08:46 PM
Woah, I have no idea why I said December. I'm pretty sure I meant October

College Station is fine for me, but I agree that the DFW folk may prefer somewhere further north. That being said, let's stay away from Robertson County. They have mean cops =(

lilredrocket
08-23-2009, 10:47 PM
Open to opinions. It's going to be hard to find a central point.

College Station is closer to Dallas (3 hrs) than San Antonio (4 hrs from the NW side where I live). A better halfway point would be between Georgetown and Temple. Still, Gruene would rock!

lilredrocket
08-24-2009, 09:55 AM
We are looking for a mid point for eveyone not just DFW and SA. It's going to be hard to find one point. Some people may have to drive just a little bit further

Slick
08-24-2009, 10:52 AM
well, im on my phone again. what's above college station that everyone might want to go?

lilredrocket
08-24-2009, 12:45 PM
There is pretty much nothing

Lazerdot
08-24-2009, 07:05 PM
I'll be willing to go for a drive to make a meet. My issues are ER, race director at NTK and Amsoil Dealer training meetings each month.

So any time is as good or bad as another. You guys make the time and I'll try to be there.

lilredrocket
08-27-2009, 11:48 PM
October maybe the weekend of the 17th and 18th sorry Slick can't do anything during the week we have a kid that goes to school. I hope that doesn't stop you from being able to make it. Another idea we could always have a lunch BBQ so you would be able to make it back to Houston at a decent hour.

lilredrocket
08-27-2009, 11:48 PM

Who know other people may not be able to make it and may have to change the date because just about every weekend before that has a race and hopefully I get to go to some of those. Iwanted something to be a little far out and still have ok weather for outdoor BBQ. If not we could go indoors some where else.

Oh ok

Slick
08-31-2009, 05:28 PM
So mid Oct will be good for me. Something like the 16-18. But we still have to get some more Texans in on this. Not that the number of attendees will affect my decision to come up.

lilredrocket
08-31-2009, 05:41 PM
Well Lazerdot has a wedding to go to either that weekend or the next. SaerinRhoe know where he can come get good food. If we have people coming from Houston then might be able to get OZMDD, gokart_ride, and wildmongoose26 to show up from this area. Hell no harm in asking frownonfun from odessa to come out. I would like to shoot for 7 or 8 Yarii there!!! Lazerdot you said your wife can make vinyls right maybe make stickers for the "First Texas Yaris Meet"?

Slick
08-31-2009, 05:49 PM
Group stickers would be killer :) Truthfully, the end of Sept would be good for me as well. Not to rush or anything. Its really the first of Oct, 2-4. But anyday is fine by me. We just have to touch base with any Texans willing and able to go so we can start hammering out who needs to get off and what not.

lilredrocket
08-31-2009, 05:55 PM
Ok I think there is a race that weekend that I will probably try and make but we could all go as a group to that and it would be fun!!

Slick
08-31-2009, 06:02 PM
Well, i think we should try to contact some of the Yaris members that do not get on all that often. Send em a PM or something letting them know whats going on. That way we can get a feel for how when the date needs to be.

lilredrocket
08-31-2009, 06:06 PM
I'll try when I get home from the hospital because I hate using my GF laptop

09-01-2009, 03:34 PM
OK, still awaiting consensus. I suspect everyone wants to do it in their town. Bryan/College Station is actually nearly in the middle of all the major, non-West Texas cities, and its likely that we could get some help from the autocross guys down there to maybe use the track. Ideally, it'd make tons of sense to schedule the same weekend as an autox event there, so those who want to could play with their cars on the course a bit, and the non-drivers can hang-out and visit.

Slick
09-01-2009, 08:19 PM
Boring lol! I drive a econobox, not a racecar. Thats what my chevy is for lol, though its more of a straight liner vs turner lol. I believe we were planning this at LRR's house because there is more active Yaris owners in DFW. Its kinda of like a show of good faith. The southerners go north, even if there is only a few of us. That way the northerners will come south even though their are more of yall.

lilredrocket
09-01-2009, 10:45 PM
I was planning on having it at my house for the people from Houston if they don't want to go back that night it's a very tiring drive. I have done it a few times and had to stop half way to get a nap in. Ozmdd I know you are a stranger to me but you know Lazerdot and he would be here if he doesn't have the wedding that weekend and everyone is welcome to my house!!

Hey do you guys think I could put a vitz ecm in my us yaris and it would remove the speed cap? Reason I am trying to fix that is b/c I am about to turbo the thing and if I can't fix that first whats the point...lol

I don't believe so. Also your top speed is limited by aero. and gear to RPM ratio.

No, it stops at exactly 100mph and a revlimiter kicks in and stops it.. I know what a revlimiter feels like...

I just saying you won't get much higher than that. Also do you have an automatic or manual? Because I know my cars fuel shut off is at 118mph

its AT, and I have removed a lot of weight, rear seat, plastic, tire, jack. So if the fuel shuts off at 118, can I get around that? New ECU or fuel pump?

I've topped out at about 105mph in my yaris but that was because of silly little things like traffic in front of me on the highway, I only hit the rev limit when I'm showing off in 1st & 2nd gear. :)

I suggest we move this particular ecm topic over to another thread for the d-i-y or how-to guru's to hash out. :)
