i'm really digging this site. i think it will be far more appealing to the kids in the music scene. I'd love some feedback on it.

Thanks!

Change the blue background behind the main bit of text. Can't read it.

Everything else is nice!

I can read it just fine! Looks good. Wish there was a local website like this around back when i was in the scene.

Another minor thing... in Firefox the Transaction Results list item kicks down onto two lines and blows out your background for that list. Doesn't make it unusable though. Easiest fix would probably be to assign a smaller font size to the page_item class.

I like the color blue but I agree with Chino, makes it harder to read. See if you can make the font stand out more. Otherwise, great:thumbsup:

thats weird.. it doesnt do that on my computer.. i think its because i have a a wide screen mbp and it doesnt need to kick down the 2nd word in that phrase.

yeah i'll poke around in the css files and find the where to change the color for that first page. thanks!

i'll see if i can find that page item class too .. that might be beyond my abilities.. lol we'll see :)

^ better! a lot of people don't have 20/20 vision + add all the crappy monitors out there, mobile devices, so it's important to make the text / content stand out as much as possible I think.

(PS. just saw your response to Chino. Yeah, that's what I was trying to say. Different monitors settings can do different things to a website. My home computer XP does REEAL weird things to the Yarisword site on the right side, but the computer I have at work (twice as old, Win 2000) shows everyting where it's supposed to be. :iono:

IMO, in web design, less is more, especially if you want the content to stand out (photos, designs, etc) unless of course you want a real elaborate site with 3D, sound, stuff jumping out of the monitor ;) etc.)

Try adding the following to wp-content/themes/redux2/style.css

.page_item {font-size: 0.9em;}
.cat-item {font-size: 0.9em;}
.cat {color: black;}
.featured h2 {color: black;}

No need to find them and edit. Just paste it in there.

ChinoCharles

Well you had to make the font smaller to fix it in Firefox, which it now is...

27616

Let me tinker with it and see how big you can go without blowing it up. 2 mins.

i had never heard of wp until the other day

i had a local guy looking for a website build that i offered to do . iwas going to cheat and use iweb since he wanted a super basic site.. the only problem was he wanted a backside to it so he could edit things.

so i randomly wanted to check my my church's office was open and saw the site changed and i looked at the bottom to see what they used and saw word press.. so i poked around and decided i would build the guys website with that

www.bsafedriver.com is what i ended up building for him. i took all the pics on the site and stuff for him I had a totally different theme that i liked way more .. but he is an older guy who wanted super basic. so thats what he got lol

i decided to ditch using iweb for my own site too and started working on this page. I love all the widgets and such.. so far everything i've wanted i've found for plugins and i cant wait to start getting band cd's in stock so i can start selling them.. i think this format will really get the local kids interested in my shows, clothing and photography

TG, 1.05em is perfect and only slightly smaller than what you started with. It was actually 1.1em to begin with. My bad.

Wordpress is going to take over the CMS world. Their plugin community is bonkers and what a lot of people don't know is they have a version that allows you to serve and administrate multiple sites from one place. http://mu.wordpress.org. I use it for our company for smaller magazine-style publications. I have also used a plugin called BuddyPress to give those sites a cohesive user login structure and some social networking functionality. You can get PMs on our blogs now. Its sick. Wordpress FTW.

Good luck with your site!

thanks man. i dropped the font down on the categories to so they match.

when i was building that driving site i had to deal with him using IE (bleh) he kept emailing me saying things were changing on the site (when i wasnt even home working on the site) the page wasnt handling a png file very well.

so we went with a more basic theme and he was happy lol

thanks! i immediately saw how this template system was way better than anything i've delt with .. I even like the wp-e commerce thing better than oscommerce .. which i've used alot . i'm psyched about this new page and think its really going to help things grow over here :)
