So I put on some wide 18x8 wheels, It has a +40 offset so there isnt any rub, even at full turn. But I noticed that when I hit 30mph I hear this noise that sounds like a jet engine or somthing! Im sure its not my car, because the only thing I did was change my wheels.
I can try and get the sound on video. might be alittle hard though.

The only thing I did different from my other wheels was that I put the plastic rings on the inside of the center caps. idk why but they said its a good thing to do.

Are you talking about hubcentric rings?

Anyway, check your lug nuts now. They might be loose, or have loosen.

Not road noise from low profile tires on big rims?

So, you are sure that all 16 lug nuts are on tight? I had that sound (sounds like a deep light saber or a helicopter) a minute or two before I lost one of my lug nuts on the freeway and the rest were loosened. Also check that the rings are on right as they may be causing the rims to vibrate/wobble if they not on correctly.

Im sure that all 16 lugs are tight at 75lbs. Also Im pretty sure I put the rings on right. There was like only one way that made it go in perfect.
Still dont know what the noise is but it worries me. ><;;

Oh, another thing, are your tires unidirectional? I know when I had my Parada Spec-2's, they made an identical sound when braking (tires biting into the road).

Hmm not sure, but the I hear the noise just driving, not just from braking. once I get under 30mph it goes away.

How much do your 18x8s weigh?

And wheel bearings aren't in the tires..

Ok so here is a clip of the sound.
I tried to isolate the sound the best I could. I used my mic I use to recordings and it did a pretty good job of picking up the noise.

Anyone know what the sound is?

Maybe try putting back your stock wheels. If it makes the same sound, then it's the car.
If it doesn't make the same sound, then it's your new wheels.
You said it's only around 30 mph when you hear the noise right?

It could be just the sound when spinning at that speed. Bad example but like when you start spinning a wheel slowly and as you increase its speed, the wind resistance at the point generates a sound at that frequency, but spin it faster or slower and you don't hear it any more because you can hear the sound only at that frequency.

Sorry, I really don't know otherwise.

Im pretty sure its the wheels. When I changed my wheels the stock wheels werent making noise but after changing it, it started to make the noise.
I also noticed that I hear it at around 58-ish mph.

Hmm...
If you checked the wheel bearings/hubcentric rings/etc. , then i don't know what else it is. I've never heard that sound before. It sounds like soemthing is out of balance. Did you install rear shims??

My car was running like neg 4 camber for a while, and it sounded like that, except a lower pitch sound, as wind was passing under the tires.
I'd bet it is wind passing through the rim, or check your alignment to see if that is causing the noise. I'm betting it's just wind passing through. No biggie.

Whats that? haha

If you checked the wheel bearings/hubcentric rings/etc
Im sure that the rings are in right, but how do I check the bearings?

Kaotic Lazagna

Shims are used to add negative camber in the rear, I believe.

Oh ok, yeah I dont have that. haha

Ok its not my wheels bearings or my car. I just put my steelies back on. Gave them shake but there is no play. then when I drive I dont hear the sound.
OMG so strange!! I think I will take it in and get it balanced and see if they know.
